A new survey of 2,000 people has revealed the top 40 things adults miss most from their childhood.

Topping the list were school holidays and waking up without a care in the world.

Interestingly, more than half (56 percent) admitted losing their sense of fun as they’ve gotten older with the average age for this feeling coming at 27-years-old.

Other top things adults miss from the childhood include spending a lot of time outdoors (without worrying about getting dirty), being given pocket money, playing in the park, watching TV as soon as they got home from school, and waking up feeling excited, especially on their birthday.

People also miss having someone else do the cooking, cleaning and shopping for them.

“With so many adults across the country missing some of the fun they had as a child, such as being outdoors or singing out loud, we’re calling for the nation to embrace that nostalgic positivity and ‘Be More Kid’. We want to remind people to bring a sense of that childlike fun and sunshine to the day,” said Caroline Wilding, spokesperson for Tropicana Brands Group, who commissioned the survey.

35 percent of those polled remember starting the day feeling happy, playful (22 percent) and optimistic (21 percent) as a kid.

By contrast, 42 percent of those surveyed say that as an adult they wake up feeling tired, stressed (24 percent) and anxious (21 percent).

And 26 percent wish they hadn’t taken their childhood for granted.
