Look Back At What Life Was Like This Week 20 Years Ago Is A Fascinating Walk Down Memory Lane

Time flies. It seems like New Year’s Eve was just a couple of weeks ago. The widely popular eclipse last year doesn’t seem like it was all that long ago.

I guess I’m getting old. I can still remember when Diddy was Puff Daddy and Pluto was still a planet. It’s been decades since I last sat on the floor and watched new episodes of Seinfeld at my grandmother’s house but the memory doesn’t feel like it’s all that old. And that’s precisely what makes this video so fascinating.

The Peterson YouTube channel put together this quick 2min40sec clip which shows what life was like 20 years ago during the week of February 22-28, 1998. Why they chose to open up with Celine Dion is beyond me when they could’ve just played ‘Shorty Swing My Way’ on repeat:

Here’s the quick description from below the video:

This week features songs from Celine Dion, Another Level, KP & Envyi, Cornershop, Savage Garden and more. Plus TV shows – Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Frasier, X-Files and movies – Kissing a Fool and Dark City. With video games – GEX Enter the Gecko, Tenchu Stealth Assassins, 1080 Snowboarding, Star Wars Rebellion and More! All squeezed unceremoniously into two and a half minutes.

1080 Snowboarding was my JAM back in the day. I spent way more hours playing that game than I’d ever like to admit. But there wasn’t an overabundance of badass games out at that time. There were some awesome games coming through the pipeline that would drop shortly thereafter, but on this week 20 years ago 1080 Snowboarding was legit.
