A movie about the doomed Titan submersible, which imploded on June 18 and took the lives of the five people on board, is already in the works. The project is reportedly titled Salvaged.

The film is set to be produced by E. Brian Dobbins (The Blackening, Black-ish) and MindRiot Entertainment. MindRiot Entertainment is also producing a docuseries about the Titan.

In a statement, Jonathan Keasey — a lawyer-turned-filmmaker who will co-write the film — said that the project will honor those involved in Titan submersible imposion.

“The Titan Tragedy is yet another example of a misinformed and quick-to-pounce system, in this case, our nonstop, 24-7 media cycle that convicts and ruins the lives of so many people without any due process,” Keasey said, via Deadline.

“Our film will not only honor all those involved in the submersible tragedy, and their families, but the feature will serve as a vessel that also addresses a more macro concern about the nature of media today.”

Keasey then went on to bloviate about how the film will embrace truth and nuance.

“Truth is all that matters. And the world has a right to know the truth, always, not the salacious bait crammed down our throats by those seeking their five minutes of fame. Life is not black and white. It’s complicated. There’s nuance. Always nuance.”

Created by the company OceanGate, the Titan was the first privately owned submersible that claimed to have a maximum depth of 13,000 feet.

During its first expedition in June 2023, however, the submersible imploded and killed all five people on board: Hamish Harding, Shahzada Dawood, Suleman Dawood, Paul-Henri Nargeolet, and OceanGate founder Stockton Rush, who was the pilot of the vessel.

After extensive search and rescue efforts in the following days, it was confirmed on June 22 that the vessel had imploded. While the exact cause of the accident has yet to be officially confirmed, experts have suggested the carbon fiber hull wasn’t able to stand up to deep-sea pressure.
