Tom Cruise Had Predictably Insane Logic For Why He Wanted To Film Biggest ‘M:I7’ Stunt On Day One

If there’s one thing Tom Cruise is known for these days, it’s his next-level, borderline insane commitment to making the stunts in his movies as real as possible, hence, him *really* driving a motorcycle off of a cliff for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, which is simply the latest in a long line of bonkers MI stunts.

As it turns out, Cruise apparently insisted on shooting that scene on the first day of filming Dead Reckoning Part One because, as he told Entertainment Tonight, “we know either we’re going to continue with the film or not,” which is about as Tom Cruisian as it gets.

Just like Top Gun: Maverick and the previous Mission: Impossible films, though, it appears that Cruise’s undying commitment to cinema has paid off once again as the early reviews for Dead Reckoning Part One hail the film as another massive win for the now iconic franchise.

Here is the official synopsis for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, via Paramount Pictures:

In Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his IMF team embark on their most dangerous mission yet: To track down a terrifying new weapon that threatens all of humanity before it falls into the wrong hands. With control of the future and the fate of the world at stake, and dark forces from Ethan’s past closing in, a deadly race around the globe begins. Confronted by a mysterious, all-powerful enemy, Ethan is forced to consider that nothing can matter more than his mission – not even the lives of those he cares about most.

In addition to Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, stars Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, Hayley Atwell, Shea Whigham, Pom Klementieff, Esai Morales, Rob Delaney, Henry Czerny, and Cary Elwes. The film will hit movie theaters in the United States on Friday, July 12.
