Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield, And Tobey Maguire Bonded Over Peeing

  • Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire, and Andrew Garfield all featured as Spider-Man in No Way Home.
  • During the making of the film, the three actors understandably formed a bond with one another.
  • That “brotherhood” was also a result of them all experiencing the difficulties of using the bathroom while dressed as Spider-Man.

As you’ve likely heard — unless you’ve been living on Mars, as outer space is likely the only place where you could’ve avoided this movie — Spider-Man: No Way Home made history as it united the three 21st century Spider-Mans on screen for the first time ever.

The appearance of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man franchise was not only a seminal moment for fans but served as a bonding moment for the three actors, who not only had a shared experience of *playing* Spider-Man on the big screen, but having to *pee* — yes, take a piss — while dressed as Spidey.

Andrew Garfield shared a unique confession about stepping back into the superhero costume for Spider-Man: No Way Home during Variety‘s Actors on Actors interview with Rachel Zegler.

“There was a brotherhood that got created between Tobey [Maguire], Tom [Holland] and myself,” Garfield said. “And that’s healing. We were like, ‘Oh, my God, you find it hard to pee in the suit? I find it hard to pee in the suit!’” [Variety via IndieWire]

Spider-Man: No Way Home — the fourth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 4 following Black Widow, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and Eternals, and 27th film overall — stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker / Spider-Man, Zendaya as MJ, Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, Jamie Foxx as Electro, Alfred Molina as Doc Ock, Willem Dafoe as Green Goblin, Rhys Ifans as Lizard, Thomas Hayden Church as Sandman, and, of course, Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man. The film is currently playing in theaters and will be available to rent on-demand in February.
