Two elderly men crossed off an experience from their bucket list this past weekend. The two badasses escaped from their nursing home and went to the biggest heavy metal festival in the world. Tag a friend who would be down to do this with you when you’re like 80.
Two older gentlemen snuck out of their nursing home on Friday so that they could rock out at the 2018 Wacken Open Air heavy metal festival. Administrators at the nursing home alerted authorities when they couldn’t find the missing senior citizens. At 3 a.m., police found the geriatric metalheads at the hard rock festival. These old geezers are living their best life.
A police spokeswoman said the men were “disoriented and dazed.” Yeah, so are all of the 75,000 people who attend Wacken Open Air Festival. Finally, these dudes could yank out their hearing aids and just let loose, maybe even do some crowd surfing.
Police said that the aging headbangers were reluctant to leave the festival. They paid for their tickets, let them headbang until their rebellious hearts are content. Police had to escort the men back to the nursing center.
“They obviously liked the metal festival,” said police spokeswoman Merle Neufeld. “The care home quickly organized a return transport after police picked them up.”
This year’s four-day Wacken Open Air Festival featured heavy metal acts such as Danzig, Judas Priest, Hatebreed, In Flames, Running Wild, Arch Enemy, In Extremo, and Eskimo Callboy. I bet these dudes are huge Dokken fans.

Bad job by the sons and grandsons of these two badasses, they should have happily taken them to the Wacken Open Air Festival.
