‘We Just Won 3 Trophies’: Wisconsin Family Goes To Wendy’s To Get Free Frostys For Athletes. Then The Worker Says No Because ‘Dance Isn’t A Sport’

When Wisconsin mom Katie Kasuboski-Green (@ktgreenss) took her kids to Wendy’s, she didn’t expect to spark a fierce debate on TikTok. But when the eatery refused free Frostys to her kids on the basis that they weren’t athletes, questions were raised over where dance fits in children’s sports activities.

The TikTok, which has garnered 3.1 million views, begins with Kasuboski-Green in the car, explaining what happened as the viral “the saxophones are getting louder” sound plays in the background.

She explained how her children had just finished competing at a dance competition. After pulling up to Wendy’s, Kasuboski-Green says she noticed a poster offering free Frostys for young athletes who have their uniforms on.

As the TikToker pointed out, both her children had dance uniforms on. She also noted how they had won three trophies in six hours.

“Had six hours of competition today, and we were just told dance isn’t a sport; it’s only for soccer and basketball, things like that,” she explained.

Kasuboski-Green says she emphasized how they’d won three trophies today and had a uniform on. But despite this, the worker apologized and stuck to their guns about the children being ineligible for this offer.

“So since when is a dance competition not a sport?” she asked. “Are you kidding me? You wouldn’t give two little girls two free little Frostys for their sport? Because why, Wendy’s? Why?”

What Did Commenters Say?

Most commenters sided with the TikToker.

“Mind you, it’s an Olympic sport!” one pointed out.

“Dance is absolutely a sport,” a second added.

Meanwhile, a third commenter shared their own, identical experience. “I saw that in one of my Wendys and my son does fencing,” they wrote. “So we went with the helmet and everything. We got up to the window and they said no because it ‘wasn’t a sport.’ So I ended up just getting him a frosty myself. Disappointing.”

And a fourth opined, “Ultimately, why do the workers care if it’s being offered and anybody comes in with uniform they should just honor it.”

What Happened Next?

In response to commenters who implied that she might have misread the deal, Kasuboski-Green returned to the scene of the crime.

“So this morning,” she added, “I decided to do my due diligence.” She went on to explain how she drove by the Wendy’s to take a photo of the window sign.

Sharing an image of the sign in the video, it reads: “Free Small Frosty Classic For Youth Athletes In Uniform.”

“It doesn’t even say for a sport, so to break it down to a sport I think is even worse,” she added. “But it says ‘all youth athletes.’ They just have to have a uniform on. I don’t understand why this is such a big deal that they can’t give away a free Frosty to kids that come in under 12 to support their hard work.”

In a final update, Kasuboski-Green shared how Dairy Queen reached out and provided her with a gift card so the kids could get their free ice cream after all. The video depicted them happily enjoying the snack at a Dairy Queen branch. BroBible reached out to Dairy Queen via email.

How Can You Get A Free Frosty From Wendy’s?

While Frostys are getting a major overhaul, one TikToker found a different free Frosty loophole.

In the TikTok, which garnered over 20,000 views, user @homemadenlove spoke to the camera while holding a Frosty. “So I’m in Georgia, and I end up getting this for free because Wendy’s has AI,” she explained.

She claims that she asked the AI drive-thru machine for more information about Wendy’s Frosty options. She then asked it to remove the Frosty from her order. However, as she pulled up to the collection window, she realized the Frosty had already been made.

Although this seems like a unique experience, the fact remains that a free Frosty will never go unappreciated.
