What’s New On HBO Max In September: ‘Cry Macho, Malignant, Scenes From A Marriage, Doom Patrol’

Whats New On HBO Max In September

HBO

We truly are living in the golden age of television, aren’t we? There are more good shows and movies available now than ever before in history. And it’s all thanks to our favorite online streaming services like HBO Max.

Speaking of HBO Max, here’s what’s new for the month of September 2021 on HBO.

From Warner Bros. Pictures comes director/producer Clint Eastwood’s uplifting and poignant drama Cry Macho. Based on the book by the same name, Eastwood stars as a one-time rodeo star and washed-up horse breeder who, in 1979, takes a challenging journey, during which the horseman finds unexpected connections and his own sense of redemption.

September also brings Malignant, the latest creation from Conjuring Universe architect James Wan to HBO Max. The film marks director Wan’s return to his roots with this new original horror thriller.

Both Cry Macho and Malignant will be available in theaters and on HBO Max the same day.

A great line-up of original programming also arrives during the month including Scenes From A Marriage, a five-episode limited series starring Oscar Isaac and Jessica Chastain. The third season of Doom Patrol will also make its way to the platform during the month along with Adventure Time: Distant Lands – Wizard City, documentary series Nuclear Family, as well as the finales of Sweet Life: Los Angeles and comedy series The Other Two.

Films to binge this month include Promising Young Woman, Those Who Wish Me Dead, Mortal Kombat, and News of the World. All eight Harry Potter films also return to HBO Max.

On September 9th, HBO Max will launch its first look-back podcast, Band of Brothers, in honor of the limited series’ 20th anniversary. Hosted by Roger Bennett, the pod will kick off with an interview with executive producer Tom Hanks and will feature interviews with additional former castmates over the course of several weeks.
