Did you know there’s a Ring Shaming group on Facebook chock full of women who are inclined to mock their partners for their choice of engagement ring? Can you imagine something more pretentious? Maybe a hair shaming group for Leukemia patients, but other than that, I’m fresh out of parallels.

An unidentified woman posted a photo of the engagement ring she found in the couple’s nightstand that her boyfriend was planning on giving her. She began her comment to the group with “Ewwww.”

Reddit

“Ewwwww,” she wrote. “Self shame Friday here I come. Found this in the BF’s nightstand. Not a fan. Please roast and then tell me how to tactfully say no you need to go get something different.”

WELL LA-DEE FREAKIN’ DA. Sorry the dude didn’t sell a vital organ to get you a blood diamond so you can sit around drinking soy milk lattes with your friends Becky and Tammy and compare the color and clarity. If I were this girl’s boyfriend, I’d take this ring back to the mall kiosk he bought it from and use the money to put down on a studio apartment on the opposite coast.

It also should be noted that a Reddit user who claimed to work at a jewelry store said that the ring in question is a one carat, of which start at $1,000.

Other comments in the viral Reddit post proved that shame can go both ways.

The anti-drug people gave him a $50 savings bond for his brave contribution to crime-fighting, and upon the bond’s maturity 10 years later, he used it to buy his very first bag of marijuana.
