A woman in Michigan recently used ChatGPT to choose her lottery numbers. She ended up winning $100,000. Who needs luck when you have a generative artificial intelligence chatbot, am I right?
Tammy Carvey, 45, of Wyandotte, much like many other people, decided that when the Powerball jackpot skyrocketed in September to over $1 billion that she would take a shot and purchase a ticket. She told Michigan Lottery officials that it is the only time she plays the lottery.
“I asked ChatGPT for a set of Powerball numbers and those are the numbers I played on my ticket,” she said.
The numbers ChatGPT chose for Carvey were 11, 23, 44, 61, 62, and 17 for the Powerball. After buying her lottery ticket online, she waited for the Sept. 6 drawing.
She couldn’t believe ChatGPT actually picked the winning lottery numbers
“When I checked the winning numbers, I saw I matched four white balls and the Powerball and knew I had to have won something,” she said. “Google told me it was a $50,000 prize, so that’s what I thought I’d won. It wasn’t until I logged into my Michigan Lottery account that I realized I added the Power Play to my ticket and actually won $100,000! My husband and I were in total disbelief.”
As we say time and time again, some people just have all the luck. Carvey told lottery officials that she was going to use her winnings to pay off her home and then save whatever is left over.
