A woman has gone viral after sharing how a World Cup soccer player slid into her DMs. However, the England player then ghosted her for the most absurd reason.
Height is something of a dirty world in the dating arena. Some short kings (?) crash out over dating app height filters, and others even lie about their height, but this is nothing compared to TikToker Nicola’s (@nicolaeick) experience.
In the video, which has garnered 312,200 views, Nicola began by saying how a soccer player, who now plays for England, slid into her DMs approximately seven years ago.
They have banter for two weeks and things slowly progress. For example, he adds her on Snapchat, and they begin texting.
But that all changed when Nicola shared a photo of herself and a friend going out.
What Did The World Cup Player Do?
The man swiped up, said she looked “fire” and asks how tall she is.
She then tells viewers how she thought that the fact she’s 6ft and a former Division 1 athlete would make him like her more. But instead, he responded with one word: “Oh.”
Nicola replies to him with a series of question marks. But what came next was the most shocking. He told her that 6ft was too tall for him, and that it was also “unladylike.”
After taking some time to digest the message, she went to reply to him. But here’s the real kicker: he unadded her.
“And here we are seven years later, and you know I work for Fifa and he plays for England and he played a match here in Dallas and he did indeed score a goal,” she said. “I was really happy for him, but I will say off the spec test this guy’s a solid 5’7 and if you google him, there’s five different roster heights out there. So finally occurred to me why it was that six feet was a little bit unladylike for him. But anyways I hope they win the World Cup.”

‘Unladylike?’
Commenters had a vast range of reactions.
“Unladylike?” one asked. “I feel like most soccer players aren’t tall. He felt intimidated lol.”
“Some dudes just don’t like tall girls, same how most girls don’t like short dudes,” a second added.
While a third said, “Ur so real for sharing this. I don’t even care for soccer but love gossip so ty.”
And a fourth queried: “Why are they so insecure?”
Tall Woman ‘Negged’ In Coffee Shop
When it comes to hitting on tall women, some men choose to “neg”—a toxic tactic where they subtly insult or undermine the confidence of someone in order to make them feel grateful for their attention.
TikToker Becky Perry (@beckydperry) went viral after sharing her experience on the app.
She began by explaining that a man approached her in a coffee shop asking if they’d worked together before. He said he’d worked with people who were not only “carbon copies” of her but were also 6 feet 8 inches.
She responds by telling him she’s 6 feet 2 inches, but the man refused to accept this. After some more back and forth, she tried to send him away. But his astonishing reaction was this, “‘Oh. Oh no no no. I just saw how tall you were and I thought I’d come over here and ask you for some uppies.'”
Needless to say, the TikToker was unimpressed.
