Xbox

  • Xbox has unveiled a new Sonic inspired Series S and controller combo.
  • The giveaway is in promotion of the new film Sonic the Hedgehog 2.
  • Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will hit theaters on April 8.

In case you’ve ever wished your video game controllers had more grip — throwing them against the wall when you lose a Madden game to your buddy doesn’t count — Xbox now has you covered as they’ve unveiled legitimately “fuzzy” Sonic-inspired controllers to promote the release of the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 2.

The controllers aren’t the only custom Sonic the Hedgehog get that Xbox and Paramount Pictures made, as a custom Xbox Series S that “features a golden portal ring shining on its surface alongside an embossed Sonic the Hedgehog 2 logo” has been unveiled, according to Xbox.

If you do want this Sonic/Xbox combo for yourself, you can own it as Xbox is giving them away in a contest.

The customized black Xbox Series S console features a golden portal ring shining on its surface alongside an embossed Sonic the Hedgehog 2 logo. With textured coatings reminiscent of the “bristly” texture of hedgehogs in the wild, the new Xbox Wireless Controllers come in Sonic Blue and Knuckles Red.

As for Sonic the Hedgehog sequel — the follow-up to 2020’s surprisingly successful film ($319M at the box office) — that’ll hit theaters on April 8. In addition to the returning Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic and Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik, the film also stars Idris Elba as the voice of Knuckles, Colleen O’Shaughnessey as the voice of Tails, James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Natasha Rothwell, Adam Pally, Shemar Moore, and Lee Majdoub.
