With his latest film Rebel Moon: Part One – A Child of Fire hitting Netflix in just a few weeks, director Zack Snyder recently sat down for a lengthy interview in which he detailed which comic book projects he’d still consider making.

Despite the tumultuous years he spent with Warner Bros. making DCEU movies, the 57-year-old Snyder said he would still consider making a comic book movie, specifically, an adaption of The Dark Knight Returns or something involving the duo of Daredevil and Elektra.

Snyder says that chapter of his life is now closed, and it would be difficult to coax him to reopen it.

If his buddy Gunn called and invited him back to DC, he might consider doing a Dark Knight Returns adaptation (but only “a true representation of the graphic novel”). While Snyder’s 2016 film Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice had elements of The Dark Knight Returns in it, the “true representation of the graphic novel” is a different kettle of fish, as the story is far darker than even Snyder’s interpretation of the Caped Crusader.

The Dark Knight Returns actually has a strong connection to the Marvel project Snyder would be interested in, as TDKR writer Frank Miller also created the character of Elektra for Marvel.

Rebel Moon: Part One – A Child of Fire will be hitting Netflix on Friday, December 15. Sofia Boutella stars in the film alongside Charlie Hunnam, Michiel Huisman, Djimon Hounsou, Doona Bae, Ray Fisher, Cleopatra Coleman, Jena Malone, Fra Fee, Ed Skrein, and Anthony Hopkins.

The sequel to the film, Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver, will then hit Netflix on Friday, April 19, 2024.
