Why Every Bro Wishes He Were Denis Leary

Let’s be honest. You aren’t exactly how you’d like to be. That’s alright. None of us are. Every Bro has something he wished was different about himself, from being tougher to funnier to better looking.

No Bro is perfect. But there is one man out there who is everything we want to be, the embodiment of cool, funny, tough, and caring: Denis Leary.

Denis Leary is the man, and it’s downright impossible to disagree. From always having the perfect quip for any moment to drinking with the best of them, he’s always on point. And Leary went from successful comedian to fantastic actor to one of the best television producers out there. Who wouldn’t enjoy that path? His signature show, Rescue Me, was an emotional powerhouse that left all its viewers laughing and crying. Now, Leary’s going back to his comedy roots with Sirens, a raunchy and hilarious new comedy on USA Network about three best buddies who are EMTs in Chicago, premiering March 6th at 10/9c.

But back to Mr. Leary, and why you want to be him.

First off, he knows how to rant with the best of them. No one can stop Denis Leary when he gets on a roll. Just watch him talk about something as mundane as the state of coffee today.

Leary is funny and feisty. But he showed true emotion, as well as embodied the soul of a city better than any man ever could in Rescue Me, Leary’s show about an engine company in NYC. Not only did Leary play a character reeling from the death of many of his friends on 9/11, but he also openly battled more demons than any Bro could ever face: family struggles, alcoholism, and divorce. But he never stopped fighting.

Never forget that Leary’s an Irish Catholic from Massachusetts, so he’s the type to never back away from a fight, or a glass of whiskey. No, seriously. Look at this clip.

Every Bro dreams of a moment like that: getting the respect he deserves in a crowded bar. And Leary, for all his bravado, is a man to give back. He started the Leary Firefighters Foundation and in the past 15 years has given over $2.5 million to fire departments throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. Another foundation of his, the Fund for New York’s Bravest, has passed out more than $2 million to the families of the 343 firemen killed on 9/11.

Now that’s Bro. And Denis Leary is the kind of Bro we all wish we could be.
