Here’s How The Bros Behind ‘Game Of Thrones’ Blow Your Mind With Stunning Visual Effects

In filmmaking, visual effects (abbreviated VFX) are the processes by which imagery is created and/or manipulated outside the context of a live action shot. From the majestic Meereen temple to the Smoking Sea of Valyria, it’s interesting to think about how much of the scenery is real and how much is produced digitally. Maybe King’s Landing is actually just Detroit before the digital masters get their paws on it. That’s highly unlikely, considering some Game of Thrones episodes have exceeded $6 million to make and are filmed on some of the most gorgeous landscapes in the world–Northern Ireland, Croatia, Morocco, not Detroit.
