BRACE YOURSELVES: George R.R. Martin Says A ‘Game Of Thrones’ Movie Is Coming!

Ladies and gentlemen, can I please have your attention. I’ve just been handed an urgent and stupendous news story. I need all of you to stop what you’re doing and listen. George R.R. Martin said there’s going to be a Game of Thrones movie!!!

At an Emmy afterparty, the tremendous writer of the books said that HBO will wake the hit television show to the big screen when the TV series ends. The Daily Star has the exciting details:

There will be a movie but I will not be involved. I have too much to do. That is something HBO and the DB and David [The show’s creators D.B. Weiss and David Benioff] are dealing with. I have two more books to finish and I still have so much to do. The pressure is on. I am such a slow writer and the fans get upset that I don’t write faster.

A production “insider” said the following about the time-frame of the movie:

“They are looking at dipping back in time during certain periods of the series, which could be examined as a one off plot. That means that some of the big characters who fans have seen die on screen could be resurrected.”

Martin explained why he is too busy for a movie, “The pressure is on. I am such a slow writer and the fans get upset that I don’t write faster.”

This means all the dead characters could come back to life!

There’s so much juicy material available for a movie since Martin has created so many characters and chronicled over 8,000 years of history.

We know that the TV show will go at least eight seasons. HBO programming president Michael Lombardo said the following in July:

“The question is: How much beyond seven are we going to do? Obviously we’re shooting six now, hopefully discussing seven. [Showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss are] feel like there’s two more years after six. I would always love for them to change their minds, but that’s what we’re looking at right now.”

However there are some doubts to this report. The Emmys were over a week ago, why would a publication hold onto this exclusive, titillating scoop for that long?

The source of the quotes are from an “insiders,” there is no audio or video of Martin actually confessing that there will be a movie. With all of the coverage and reporters around, it’s rather strange that no one was able to confirm this with Martin.

Lombardo has previously stated that he was against a GoT movie.

The source is the Daily Star, not exactly the New York Times.

By the old gods and the new, I do hope that these rumors are true and that my joy will not turn to ashes in my mouth.
