The first John Wick movie was an unexpected hit back in 2014 hauling in $88 million on a $30 million budget. That’s pretty much because people absolutely love two things in movies: a badass fictional assassin and someone going completely off-the-rails defending the honor of his dog.
So there was little doubt when they announced John Wick: Chapter 2 was going to be made that (1) the film would do very well at the box office and (2) there would be a whole lot of killing.
Turns out that both of those predictions came true as John Wick: Chapter 2 has raked in $166 million worldwide on it’s still relatively small $40 million budget. And oh yeah, there was also a whole lot of that killing I mentioned.
In the first film, which clocked in at 101 minutes, our man JW unofficially snuffed out 76 bad guys…
However, as expected, in Chapter 2 Wick took things to the mayhem to whole new level, clocking in with more kills than there were minutes in the film. (Hint: the movie was 122 minutes long.)
Looks like all that gun training by Keanu Reeves really paid off.
Cannot wait for John Wick 3.
