Marvel Unleashes Trailers For Upcoming Netflix Shows ‘Luke Cage,’ ‘The Defenders,’ And ‘Iron Fist’ At SDCC

The San Diego Comic-Con just kicked off, and Marvel is already dominating by releasing teaser trailers for their new Netflix TV shows. On Thursday night, the trailers for Luke Cage, The Defenders, and Iron Fist were released.

To get you amped up for Luke Cage, Netflix shared a sizzle reel at current Marvel shows Daredevil and Jessica Jones. Cage was first introduced on Jessica Jones and appeared on seven episodes as a hero for hire.

During Marvel’s panel at SDCC, they screened the first full-length teaser trailer for the Luke Cage series. Set to Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s unmistakable classic “Shimmy Shimmy Ya,” the indestructible Luke Cage gets riddled with bullets, but it does not stop him from ravaging an armed gang in Harlem.

Cage is equipped with unbreakable skin and super strength after an experiment goes awry.

Cage is played by Mike Colter, who appeared on Million Dollar Baby, Men in Black 3, American Horror Story, and will appear in the upcoming Netflix series The Defenders.

You can watch the entire season of Luke Cage season on Netflix starting on September 30th, 2016.

Speaking of The Defenders, the teaser trailer for the upcoming Marvel show debuted on Thursday as well. The very nondescript trailer has a haunting version of Nirvana’s 1991 hit “Come As You Are.” The Netflix miniseries will bring together Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist.

“You think the four of you can save New York? You can’t even save yourselves,” said Stick, the blind sensei from Daredevil.

Speaking of Iron Fist, the teaser trailer for that new series was also shared. This show features a familiar face to Game of Thrones fans, Finn Jones, Loras Tyrell from GoT. Finn trades in his nobility to become Daniel Rand. It appears that a young Rand survives an airplane crash and he is found by seemingly Buddhist monks. He is brought to the mystical city of K’un-L’un and taught the ways of the magical Iron Fist, which gives him super strength. Rand returns to New York City as an adult to battle crime with his newfound skills.

Iron Fist will be available on Netflix in 2017.

Besides the exciting new trailers, there was also news that the Marvel/Netflix collaboration Daredevil will return for a third season, but there was no release date given.
