The new Ghost in the Shell trailer is here and it looks spectacular. The first trailer of the movie based on the classic anime came out in November and the second trailer gives us a more in-depth glance at the upcoming flick.
Ghost in the Shell stars Scarlett Johansson, who plays a character named the Major. She is a special ops, one-of-a-kind human-cyborg hybrid, who leads the futuristic elite anti-terrorist task force Section 9. The enemy wants to destroy Hanka Robotic’s advancements in cyber technology. In the trailer, the Major comes face-to-face with Kuze, the villain of the film.
The cast also includes Beat Takeshi Kitano as Daisuke Aramaki, Juliette Binoche as Dr. Ouelet, Michael Pitt as Kuze, Pilou Asbæk as Batou, and Kaori Momoi. It is directed by Rupert Sanders, best known for Snow White and the Huntsman.
The film is based on the Japanese manga of the same name by Masamune Shirow. In this futuristic world set in 2029, the word “ghost” refers to a human’s consciousness, which can be transferred to different cyborg bodies, called shells.
Ghost in the Shell hits theaters on March 31, 2017.
