Sylvester Stallone just won his first Golden Globe after his third nomination–the first two were for the original Rocky (Best Screenplay and Best Actor in a Motion Picture). That was almost 40 YEARS ago in 1977.

So you can imagine what a 40 year old-overdue ovation sounds like. Or you can’t. I can’t either, bro.

The stage is set.

The man who encapsulated the American spirit with a series of films that our children’s children will be inspired by takes the stage.

He looks and talks like the best of all of our wise grandfathers.

He delivers as we knew he would.

“I am the sum total of everyone I’ve ever met, and so lucky I’ve absorbed some of this,” Stallone said, as he spoke over the choir of cheers.

And then he dropped the hammer.

God damnit. Congratulations Sylvester Stallone. Congratulations Rocky Balboa.

The anti-drug people gave him a $50 savings bond for his brave contribution to crime-fighting, and upon the bond’s maturity 10 years later, he used it to buy his very first bag of marijuana.
