This ‘Taylor Swift vs. Nine Inch Nails’ Mashup Is The Only Thing You Should Listen To Today

There was a long stretch in the 90’s where ‘Nine Inch Nails‘ could have stated a great case for ‘Best Band in the World’. Currently, Taylor Swift could make a strong case for ‘Most Popular Artist in the World’, because even if you don’t like her music you 100% know who she is, and you’ve heard her music.

By all accounts, a Taylor Swift x NIN mashup should not work. The styles of music couldn’t be more different, and one of them doesn’t rely entirely on pop beats and autotune. But here I am, listening to this song for the 8th time in a row, sending it to all my colleagues who work onlinem, forcing them to give it a listen.

It’s just SO GOOD, and I don’t get it. Admittedly I’m not a Taylor Swift hater. I’ve liked almost everything she’s done (at least the stuff that’s hit the radio). She’s in no way an artist who I’d see in concert, or defend as a serious musician worthy of our praise. She is what she is: she makes great pop songs.

Trent Reznor’s Nine Inch Nails on the other hand is a band worthy of praise. They make incredible music that transcended a cult following to hit MTV and the masses, bringing ‘Industrial Metal‘ to a generation of music fans who would have never heard of it without NIN.

It’s okay if you listen to this all day every day, no judgment from me.
