The Angel’s Envy 2020 Cask Strength Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey Finished in Port Barrels is finally!!! out and this marks one of the best annual whiskey releases on the calendar. This release actually became available nationwide on November 1st so I hope you gentlemen are keeping your eyes peeled at your local shops. This marks the first time that Angel’s Envy’s annual Cask Strength release is available in all 50 states but there are only 17,400 bottles available so you’ll need to get motivated to find one!
Now let’s get down to the nitty gritty. This is a 120.4-proof (60.2% ABV) release with a deep/rich amber color. On the nose you’ll get wafting notes of brown sugar, baking spices, oak, vanilla, leather, plum, and apricot. As it coats your mouth you’ll taste salted chocolate, orange peel, and cherry. The finish is said to be pleasant on the back of the tongue which sounds PERFECT for some whiskey and the citrus qualities shine through. Price will vary but it’s retailing for $199 in a lot of places so check it out!

The big day is almost here. The Xbox Series X will FINALLY be released to the public on November 10th. It’s like we’ve run a full marathon and the finish line is finally in sight. High-Performance Gear From Lululemon
We have the License to Train Boxers ($38) which have added Lycra fibers for shape retention and stretch. They are breathable and sweat-wicking which makes them an ideal pair of boxers to travel in or workout in anytime. I had to include the Pace Breaker Short 7″ Linerless ($68) in the Dye Blue/Astro Blue. I’ve got two pairs of these in Black which is pretty boring but they’re still my favorite athletic shorts because I pair them with compression shorts for HIIT or long runs. Interval Shorts From Ten Thousand Apparel

I was recently turned onto Ten Thousand shorts. For a while now, I’ve worked out in Bird Dogs but it’s not even the slightest bit of an exaggeration to say these Ten Thousand shorts are exponentially better than what I’ve been wearing and I’m now 100% on board with these going forward. These shorts have a supportive but comfortable fit with the liner and a silky smooth body feel on the skin.
Ten Thousand has several styles but we’re looking at The Interval Short today which is ideal for HIIT, AMRAPS, and Metcons. I’ve been loving the Interval Short for Cycling + HIIT exercise. This short has an internal liner that keeps everything in place but you can also order them without the liner if you’d prefer.

The New Age Of Hosting With Basil Hayden’s

I was fortunate enough to catch a glimpse of the future of hosting with Basil Hayden’s this week. With everyone at home and unable to visit distilleries the shift in hosting has moved to our kitchens. That’s where Basil Hayden’s has swooped in with this incredible virtual option.
I was very impressed with what they rolled out. It was done through this website where you can RSVP for the events on 11/9, 11/12, 11/16, and 11/19 and participate in those for free. They use Vimeo for the live stream and there’s a box where people can ask the experts questions which the experts can see in real-time and respond to but it’s really a one-way portal other than that, not like Zoom where you’re both looking at each other the entire time. The Kaikyo Distillery Whiskey and Gin

I’ve been curious about the ins and outs of Japanese Whiskey for a few years, ever since I mistakenly ordered a $120 pour of whiskey at one of my favorite bars (The Brandy Library) when I meant to order a $25 pour. And I was lucky enough to do a guided virtual tasting with Japanese Whisky featuring Master Distiller and Blender Kimio Yonezawa of the Kaikyo Distillery last Friday which was made even more awesome by the fact that I was drinking at a normal time on a Friday night but he and his crew were tasting whiskey at 8 in the morning in Japan. That’s dedication to the craft right there.
We tasted two whiskeys and made a cocktail with the 135 East Hyogo Japanese Gin which instantly became my new favorite gin and I’m not exaggerating in the least bit when I say I’ve mixed that Gin at least 4 times since last week. The Hatozaki Japanese Whiskey is a blend of Malt Whiskey (at least 40%) and Grain Whiskey. What struck me the most of this whiskey was the light color. They don’t use any artificial coloring and the finished product is so light it almost struck me as an Irish Whiskey in the bottle but on the tongue I got coconut, almond, and a smooth sweet finish. The Hatozaki Small Batch Japanese Whiskey ($65) is a must-buy for anyone out there right now looking for holiday gifts for whiskey lovers. This is 100% malt whiskey aged in Mizunara, Sherry, and Bourbon oak barrels. The finished liquid has a borderline creamy vanilla character to it with some barrel char on the end.
