If you were a child of the 1980s and ’90s, there were two shows that stood the test of time and pop culture: Power Rangers and Transformers. There’s a reason that both of these franchises have endured through decades of multiple TV reboots, movie franchises, and toys: they’re awesome. Nothing fired up six-year-old Tom Conroy quite like the Mighty Morphin Rangers getting into the Megazord and taking on Rita Repulsa and her never-ending legion of monsters. Full disclosure: my first childhood crush was Kimberly the Pink Ranger. I’m not ashamed to admit it.

Say what you will about the Michael Bay Transformers movies, but the TV shows were awesome, and the 1986 animated movie was a dark and complex masterpiece. I would stop working right now and play with Autobot and Decepticon toys if they were put in front of me. I do think Megatron was cooler than Optimus Prime, though.
