Indie Film Darlings: Our Favorite A24 Movies To Watch Free On Plex

Watch A24 movies free on Plex this month

Do you love watching movies but hate when people say you need to watch less and read more books? I certainly do. I’ve found the solution: watch A24 movies. They’re twice as sophisticated as any book and far less physically heavy. So, ditch your New Year’s resolution to read more and enjoy an A24 movie this month free on Plex.

When I see the “A24” logo pop up in a movie trailer, I don’t even need to see what the movie is afterward. They already have my money. With so many remakes and retreads and endless sequels in Hollywood, it’s nice to have a film company that values making movies that are different from everything else. Here are a few of our favorites available this month on Plex:

Moonlight (2016)

The first of Mahershela Ali’s Oscar wins. At this point, I’m pretty sure he deserves to get nominated for just about any acting role. I’d make sure you have the box of tissues ready before you start this one. Available on Plex from May 21 to May 31, this movie makes you feel all of the feels as it tackles important issues like sexuality, masculinity, and growing pains.

The Farewell (2019)

Awkafina’s only been acting in movies for a few years, but she’s off to a killer start with roles like Crazy Rich Asians and Ocean’s 8. Her starring role in The Farewell proved that she’s not afraid to get a little more serious to go along with her comedic chops. Watch as she plays an aspiring writer who reunites with her family in China to see her ailing grandmother.

The Green Knight (2021)

Another great A24 film starring another great young actor with a killer resume. Dev Patel’s been knocking it out of the park since Slumdog Millionaire (or even before that if you’re a fan of the UK show Skins). He stars here as Sir Gawain as he takes on the Green Knight in this modern adaptation of the famous 14th-century Arthurian legend.

Zola (2020)

Based on the semi-true story that went viral in a Twitter thread, this dark comedy follows the saga of two strippers (Taylour Paige and Riley Keough) as they embark on a wild road trip from Detroit to Tampa. Prostitution, murder, and a whole lot more criminal activity ensue. Just goes to show you that the craziest things always seem to happen in Florida.

Minari (2020)

We all remember Steven Yeun as the gangly, awkward former pizza delivery boy Glenn in The Walking Dead. Now, he’s all grown up and crushing it in movies as he earns his first Oscar nom in this moving family drama about a South Korean family settling down in rural Arkansas. The breakout performance comes from Youn Yuh-jung, whose portrayal of the family’s grandmother earned her the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.

There are a ton of great flicks to love on Plex, from thrills and chills to explosions and fistfights. By the way, it’s all free! What are you waiting for? Sign up at the link below!
