It seems like car manufacturers are witnessing the success of Elon Musk’s Tesla and taking aim at the high-end electric vehicle market. Auto manufacturers such as Porsche and even this little-known car maker in Japan has built an electric vehicle that is even quicker than Tesla’s ludicrously fast Model S. Now Jaguar has thrown their hat into the electric vehicle ring with their beautifully designed I-PACE crossover SUV.

The I-PACE looks like it will compete with Tesla’s Model X, which are both in the $80,000 price range. The I-PACE packs a punch in a stylish and speedy electric car. The I-PACE is said to zoom 0 to 60 in 4.5 seconds and have a range of 240 miles on one charge. The EV SUV will charge up to 80% from empty in 40 minutes using a special quick charging hardware and 0 to 80% in 85 minutes on public 50kW DC chargers.

The battery provides 394 horsepower and is situated in the center of the vehicle to give the car a 50/50 weight distribution split. The electric battery comes with an eight-year/100,000-mile warranty that is limited to 70% battery health. Jaguar has a three-year unlimited mileage warranty on the rest of the I-PACE.

Inside of the I-PACE, you have a dual-screen InControl Touch Pro Duo infotainment system. In the cabin, there are slots for tablets and laptops under the rear seats. Power options include six USB ports and three 12V sockets. The I-PACE works with Amazon’s Alexa so you can ask the vehicle if you have enough juice to get home from work. The luxury crossover will also provide a 4G Wi-Fi hotspot, over-the-air updates, and you can use a mobile app to get information about your car. The rear seats fold-flat to provide more cargo space. The Jaguar I-PACE is reported to have a sticker price of $87,000 and expected to be available for purchase in the second half of 2018.
