This morning Nintendo America announced on Twitter that they will be re-releasing the classic Nintendo NES console, the gaming console of my childhood, and the machine that basically taught me everything I know about gaming.
I mentioned above in the headline that the console is going to be 30x better than the original, and that’s because the NES Classic Edition will come with THIRTY games pre-loaded onto the machine (there’s a complete list of the games below). It also appears to be significantly smaller in size than the NES of our childhoods.
As noted on Twitter the Nintendo NES Classic Edition will hit stores on 11/11, presumably they mean this year, so we’re looking at a sales date of November 11, 2016 for when the NES Classic to hit shelves, and it will retail for $59.99. This is a HUGE product announcement for Nintendo, whose stock is already up 25% after the launch of Pokemon Go:
Here is a complete list of the 30 games that will come loaded on the NES Classic Edition:
Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest
Donkey Kong Jr.
Double Dragon II: The Revenge
Mega Man 2
Punch-Out!! Featuring Mr. Dream
Super Mario Bros.
Super Mario Bros. 2
Super Mario Bros. 3
The Legend of Zelda
Zelda II: The Adventure of Link
I don’t know about you bros but I’m stoked as hell at the prospect of once again playing Mega Man on the NES, as well as all of the Super Mario Bros. games. Right now I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve, and November cannot come soon enough. As my buddy Kyle told me earlier, ‘I’m throwing money at my computer screen and nothing is happening’, I just want to buy this now!
For more details of this launch you should make sure to follow Nintendo America’s Twitter above, as they’ll be bringing you the latest news of this product launch (re-launch?).
