As if you needed another distraction to keep you from taking care of your responsibilities, now there’s this awesome diversion. You can play your favorite old school video games on your Twitter.
That’s right you can play classics such as Street Fighter II and Doom from Twitter. All you need to do is paste the URL of a game from the vast library on the Internet Archive.
Remembering how much equipment was needed to play these games in the past makes it crazy that they can be played by simply embedded in a 140-character tweet.
Unfortunately, the feature only appears to work for MS-DOS games right now, and can only be used on the desktop version of Twitter because you need an actual keyboard to play.
There are thousands of games including the original Metal Gear, Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?, Wolfenstein 3D, Donkey Kong, Golden Axe and SimCity.
Now I don’t know how functional this is considering that you can already play the same games on your browser, but it is a quirky thing that you can tweet out on #ThrowbackThursday.
