Things We Want: A New Omega James Bond Watch, Ninja FlexFlame Grill and Smoker with ProConnect, And Yellow Leaf Hammocks

via Omega

Welcome back to Things We Want. I can’t believe it’s already Memorial Day weekend. Maybe it’s just because I’m an old man these days and time goes quick, but it doesn’t seem real. This entire year is absolutely flying by, and suddenly we’re hitting summer… I’ve just been go go go.

As I mentioned last week, we headed out to Zion National Park with the family and it was incredible.

Man, what a beautiful place. My brother-in-law did a wild traverse starting in the Kolob area and down into the valley, covering something like 40 miles in a day-long trek. He’s an absolute animal. Someone in the group even saw a bobcat. Did one of my favorite things in the world and rented ebikes with my brother, sister, and fiancée to ride the canyon. My brother and I hiked Taylor Creek, which is a really cool little canyon out-and-back hike. Honestly, I can’t wait to go back and tackle Observation Point, The Narrows, and Angel’s Landing someday. Was hoping to get at least one of those hikes in on this trip, but it just wasn’t in the cards with so much quality family time. Here’s some pics I put on Instagram:

I enjoyed lots of pool time with my nieces and nephews and fully embraced the “funcle” role. It’s the best. I even read them BJ Novak’s The Book With No Pictures.

I also packed up the Solo Stove goodies, and let me tell you, cooking out on my Solo Steelfire 22 griddle by the lake at sunset one evening was pure magic. The Windchill cooler proved to be the absolute perfect size for a road trip.

It was the perfect start to summer and we made so many memories with the family, but now we’re officially in grind mode. We are just under a month until the wedding… I am enjoying every single second of it, though there’s just so much to do.

Speaking of which, I’m genuinely thinking about ending this Friday column. If you feel like I should keep it, please scroll to the bottom of this post and leave some comments. As I mentioned last week, the comment section here on BroBible is back! I’m just not sure if you guys are digging this format or not, and I sorta need feedback to give me momentum on projects these days… especially since we have a STACKED plate of them right now. Comments are cool. Let me know.

Read: GQ’s deep dive on how Phish created a physics-defying virtual light rig for their Sphere shows. They basically built a massive virtual rig controlled by real humans in real-time, allowing the band to improvise just like they always do. It’s a fascinating look at the tech behind the spectacle by the brilliantly talented wordsmith Grayson Haver Currin.

Read: Will deFries over at the Sunday Scaries Substack just dropped a beautiful photo essay and travelogue from his recent trip to Mallorca. He shot the whole thing on 35mm film, and the vibes are absolutely immaculate. It features cliffside views from the Jumeirah Mallorca, boat rides out of Port de Sóller, and wandering vineyard cats. This place has always been on my bucket list, but seeing these shots just officially bumped it into serious honeymoon contention.

Read: I wrote a new piece over on my Substack about the end of Google’s “10 Blue Links” era. It’s a lot of wonky website business stuff regarding the shift in digital media, AI search, and why publishers are freaking out about the wrong things—but idk… I like it. If you’re interested in the behind-the-scenes sausage factory of how the ad-supported open web is changing, I’d be super stoked if you checked it out.

Listen: The new Rostam album, American Stories. You probably know him as one of the founding members of Vampire Weekend, but his solo stuff over the last decade has been incredible. This new record is super cool—he basically took traditional Americana sounds like acoustic guitars and pedal steel and wove them together with the Persian musical influences he grew up with. It’s a beautiful, vibe-heavy album about road trips and what it actually means to be American. Definitely worth throwing on the stereo for a holiday weekend drive.

Watch: Jack Ryan: Ghost War on Amazon Prime. I am probably way too pudgy and old to be a CIA operator at this point in my life, but how can you not dream? John Krasinski is officially back as the iconic analyst-turned-spy, picking up right where the hit TV series left off. This time, it’s a feature-length movie where Jack reluctantly gets pulled out of his cozy Wall Street civilian life and thrown into a high-stakes global conspiracy alongside James Greer and Mike November. It’s intense, globetrotting escapism, complete with a rogue black-ops unit and epic car chases. If you love Jack Ryan lore as much as I do, this is exactly what you want to be streaming with a cold beer this weekend.

Alright, enough rambling from me. Let’s get to the gear.

Ninja FlexFlame Grill and Smoker with ProConnect

via SharkNinjaIf you're looking to drag your backyard barbecue setup squarely into the 21st century this summer, the Ninja FlexFlame Grill and Smoker with ProConnect is an absolute unit of a smart cooker. They've knocked $200 off the price tag right now, which makes it incredibly tempting. What makes this thing so badass is that it combines the raw cooking power of liquid propane with the dialed-in precision of electric. It can grill, smoke, roast, griddle, and even fire up perfect pizzas. The real party trick on this grill is that has a built-in smart thermometer that connects directly to your phone, meaning you can monitor your cook and adjust temps while aggressively lounging in one of those Yellow Leaf hammocks I mentioned earlier. Zero guesswork and perfect results every single time.TAP HERE TO BUY @ SHARKNINJA – $215Mount Gay Rum x Devereux Golf Course Collectionvia Mount Gay Rum x Devereux Golf Course CollectionAs the lines between country club dress codes and actual comfortable lifestyle apparel continue to beautifully blur, Mount Gay Rum and Devereux Golf have arrived to outfit your preppy summer. They’ve united 300 years of rum-making heritage with Devereux’s modern, rule-breaking take on golf gear. The collection is packed with rich reds, ocean blues, and sun-washed fabrics across polos, tees, hats, and golf bags. It feels just as natural shanking a drive into the woods as it does aggressively celebrating with a post-round cocktail at the 19th hole. Untuck your shirt, leave the belt at home, and pour a heavy one. TAP HERE TO BUY @ DEVEREUX GOLF – STARTING AT $94Pelican Dayventure Backpack Coolervia Pelican

I recently got the chance to spend an afternoon at the Pelican factory in Torrance, California, and let me tell you, it was awesome. Seeing all-American manufacturing up close, especially from a company that has been doing it since the ’70s and is unquestionably the leader in protective cases, is incredibly inspiring. The coolest part is that they never had to onshore their manufacturing because they never offshore it in the first place. That rocks. I’ll have more about my Pelican experience here soon because it was incredible, but in the meantime, you need to know about the Dayventure Backpack Cooler.

I picked one of these up recently (in the new Desert Sage color), and it is a must-have for adventure season. It’s lightweight, incredibly durable, and features dual insulated compartments. The bottom is a dedicated leak-resistant cooler that perfectly fits a 6-pack and keeps ice all day, while the roll-top upper section can be used for separated dry storage or as a second cooler. It is the perfect, versatile companion for a hike, a beach day, or just hanging out at the park.

TAP HERE TO BUY @ PELICAN – STARTING AT $255.81

Pelican ModLight Pivot In-Case Light

via Pelican

Since we are already talking about Pelican and my trip to their Torrance factory, I have to put this brilliant little gadget on your radar. Fun fact: Pelican actually started out making underwater flashlights back in the ’70s, so they absolutely know their shit when it comes to building a great light. If you’re a creator, a drone pilot, or just a guy who hauls his expensive gear in a protective hard case, you know the absolute struggle of digging through your stuff in the dark. The ModLight Pivot solves that immediately.

It’s a low-profile, in-case light that installs in seconds using heavy-duty adhesive—no tools or drilling required. The articulating head lets you point the light exactly where you need it, and it cycles through white, red (to save your night vision), and blue light modes. The absolute best part? The head is magnetic and quick-release, so you can pop it off to use as a standalone flashlight or charge it via USB-C while you keep working. For 50 bucks, it’s a no-brainer upgrade to keep your mission going after the sun drops.

TAP HERE TO BUY @ PELICAN – STARTING AT $49.95

Pocho Fino Tequila

via Poncho Fina

If there is one universal truth about summer holiday weekends, it is that eventually, someone is going to demand tequila. Enter Pocho Fino, a brand-new Mexican-American tequila created by comedian Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias. Their whole operating ethos is that it’s refined enough to sip neat, but real enough to pair with a massive plate of carne asada tacos at 2 AM. As a man who deeply appreciates 2 AM tacos, I am entirely here for that energy.

While they make a crisp, traditional Blanco, they are leaning heavily into the summer party vibe with two incredible infused expressions: Mexican Candy (candied watermelon, fresh lime, and a jalapeño kick) and Grilled Pineapple (kissed with hickory smoke and caramelized sweetness). At under 30 bucks a pop, it’s a total no-brainer to keep the cooler stocked for your next backyard barbecue or late-night fiesta.

Tequila Matchmaker’s Tahona Tour (Los Angeles)

Speaking of tequila… Alexx, one of the members of our team out here in LA, recently attended the Agave Matchmaker’s Tahona Tour, courtesy of an invite from Volcan tequila. She filed a dispatch, and it sounds sick.

The event was led by Scarlet and Grover, who literally lived in Mexico for eight years to intensely study the tequila industry and the craft behind it before launching the Agave Matchmaker app. Grover led a masterclass on what actually makes a craft tequila, breaking down how massive brands often co-opt craft-adjacent language (“slow roasted,” etc.) while prioritizing mass consistency over complexity. True craft tequilas, he argues, take way longer and cost more to produce, prioritizing aroma and flavor over pure efficiency—a conversation that goes far beyond just the “additive-free” debate.

The tasting put this to the test, pitting four truly craft blanco tequilas (Tequila Fortaleza, Volcan de Mi Tierra, Tequila Alto Canto, and Tequila Trujillo) in a blind side-by-side against two unnamed large-brand blancos masquerading as craft. They even threw in a tasting of Grover’s own Respeto Agave Syrup.

It wrapped up with a panel discussion featuring the brand owners, and all for just $30 a ticket. Highly recommend keeping an eye out for these tours if they roll through your city.

Wolverine I-90 EPX Romeo & CAT Grader Chelsea Boots

via Wolverine and Caterpillar

Look, I know we are staring down the barrel of summer and it is not exactly Chelsea boot season right now. But I am a sucker for a ridiculously comfortable slip-on boot, especially when I’m dealing with airport transit or just need something rugged but easy to kick off after a long day on my feet. If you’re looking for a great alternative to the ubiquitous Blundstone, these two options from Wolverine and CAT Footwear are built for active days that don’t stick to one setting.

They both combine the ease of a slip-on Chelsea with actual workwear-level durability. The Wolverine I-90 features waterproof full-grain leather and an anti-fatigue footbed, while the CAT Grader packs a molded foam footbed and a seriously durable rubber outsole for traction. Hella comfy, incredibly versatile.

BIKE AIR x Nigel Sylvester x Air Jordan 4 “Brick After Brick”

via NikeIf you're looking to elevate your sneaker rotation for the holiday weekend, you need to set an alarm immediately. Professional BMX rider Nigel Sylvester is dropping the next evolution of his highly sought-after BIKE AIR collection with Jordan Brand, and it is an absolute heater. The "Brick After Brick" AJ4 is built on the premise of not just reaching your dreams, but sustaining them through relentless drive and discipline—a mindset Sylvester embodies perfectly. They've updated the iconic 1989 silhouette with premium leather, mesh-inspired accents, and unique floating eyestays. These officially drop at 7:00 AM this morning (May 22nd), and like all of Nigel's drops, they are guaranteed to fly off the digital shelves fast. Don't sleep on these.TAP HERE TO BUY via NIKE - $230Sony 1000X The ColleXionvia Sony

Sony just dropped a massive upgrade to their iconic wireless noise-canceling headphones, and let me tell you, these are undeniably sick. They are calling them the 1000X The ColleXion, and these aren’t just limited editions—they are the new flagships.

They took everything that makes the 1000XM6 great and elevated the design with incredibly soft vegan leather (which seamlessly covers both the earcups and the earpads) alongside real metal accents. They also feature a bespoke driver unit with a new carbon composite dome that supposedly delivers a wider soundstage and wildly detailed midrange. Yes, they carry a pretty hefty premium price tag, but if you’re looking for the ultimate luxury listening experience for your summer travels, this is the top of the mountain.

Omega Seamaster Diver 300M Chronograph 007 First Light

We are still a long way out from a new James Bond movie, but that isn’t stopping 007 from getting a fresh piece of wrist candy. The first James Bond console game in over a decade, 007 First Light, drops on May 27th, and Omega actually built the watch from the game for the real world.

The coolest part for watch nerds? This breaks a 40-year tradition. It’s a chronograph, which Bond hasn’t rocked since Roger Moore wore a Seiko in 1985’s A View to a Kill. In the game, the watch’s subdials are actually used for gameplay features, so Omega brought that exact 44mm, black-ceramic bezel beast to life, complete with some slick Bronze Gold accents.

Also, speaking of Pelican earlier—this watch literally comes packaged in a special Pelican-style suitcase modeled after the one in the game. It is a massive, beefy tool watch that is going to hold over the 007 faithful until Amazon MGM figures out who the next Bond is going to be.

Tom Beckbe Leather Coachman Overnight Duffel Bag

via Tom BeckbeSince we are heavily on the topic of summer travel and hitting the road today, we need to talk about luggage. If you want to elevate your travel aesthetic from "guy hauling a gym bag" to "seasoned overland traveler," the Tom Beckbe Leather Coachman is an absolute masterpiece. This weekender is crafted from their exclusive vegetable re-tanned American cowhide, designed specifically to highlight the natural highs and lows of the full-grain leather. It features a traditional concealed metal frame at the top so it stays wide open when you're packing, a waterproof lined interior (a massive lifesaver), and enough room for a night or two away. It’s an heirloom-quality investment piece that’s going to look even better with every mile you put on it this summer.TAP HERE TO BUY VIA TOM BECKBE - $720Coming soon: Ford x Filson Bronco Collaboration Announcementvia Ford x Filson in 2020

This one is strictly a teaser, but it is a teaser you absolutely need to have on your radar. Ford and Filson—two brands basically synonymous with “rugged American durability”—are finally teaming up for an official vehicle collaboration. They are officially dropping the first-ever Bronco Filson SUV on June 3rd.

These two have worked together before (remember the badass Wildland Fire Rig concept back in 2020 PICTURED ABOVE?), but this is a production vehicle designed to merge Filson’s “Unfailing Goods” ethos with the Bronco’s “Built Wild” capability. I am fully expecting this thing to look like a well-worn Tin Cloth jacket on wheels. The global reveal goes down on Ford’s YouTube channel on June 3 at 6 p.m. Pacific / 9 p.m. Eastern. Mark your calendars.

Airstream World Traveler 22RB Travel Trailer

via Airstream

After spending so much time driving around the desert last week, I have Airstreams heavily on my mind. Someday, after the wedding bills are paid, the house is bought, the boat is bought, the Sea-Doo is bought… man, I love my toys. But when that day finally arrives, this might be exactly what I’m looking for.

Airstream just introduced the World Traveler 22RB, their most accessible and lightweight model yet. Coming in at a 3,700-pound base weight, this aerodynamic silver bullet can easily be towed by most SUVs and crossovers. Inside, it’s basically a minimalist’s dream, featuring a bright, Scandinavian-inspired aesthetic with dual-pane acrylic windows that let in a ton of light and breeze. It is the ultimate lightweight summer escape pod.
