Welcome back to Things We Want.
I am incredibly stoked that it is finally June. Right now, I’m in the middle of aggressively trying to clear my project slate so I can just coast and fully enjoy my wedding here later this month. My entire last two weeks have been head down in table seating charts, finalizing the playlist, locking down flowers, and handling all the endless logistical details. To be completely honest, it’s been a little more stressful than I was anticipating. But things are coming together. I’ve always been a born procrastinator, and the truth is, I love working under pressure. Pressure makes diamonds, as the saying goes, and I’m just incredibly excited to turn the page on this chapter.
To kick off the month and clear my head of seating charts, I built a beach bonfire this past week with the Solo Stove Summit series fire pit. I’ve been a fan of their backyard pits for years, but the Summit is an absolute beast designed specifically to drop right into beach firepits. Thanks to its new low-profile design, the heat actually radiates outward to keep your legs warm instead of just blasting straight up into the night sky. Plus, the new Quick-Strike Cone makes it very easy to start a fire, even in the wind off the bay. We had a roaring, completely smokeless burn going on the damp sand in under five minutes. It kept us incredibly toasty once that chilly Southern California marine layer settled in, all without that brutal, eye-stinging campfire smoke chasing us around the pit. It was the exact kind of high-heat brain reset I needed.

And speaking of calming my pre-wedding nerves at night, I’ve had the Brighton-based psych-folk/chillwave band Wax Machine playing on absolute repeat. If your brain is running a mile a minute, their breezy, hypnotic tracks are the perfect off-switch.
The Highlight of My Week: ‘LEAVE A COMMENT’ screening in East Hollywood
By far, the absolute highlight of my week was heading over to East Hollywood on Saturday night to see the incredibly talented philosophy/comedy YouTuber Michael O’Niell Burns screen his hilarious new documentary, LEAVE A COMMENT.
I made a whole mission of it: took the Metro there and back from my spot on the Westside, and stopped for an incredible pizza dinner at DeSano Pizzeria Napoletana beforehand. We don’t eat out nearly enough on that side of Los Angeles, so it was a treat to go somewhere new for ‘za. If you go, do yourself a favor and get the pepperoni pie with two different types of pepperoni. It’s a banger.
As for Michael’s documentary itself… It’s a brilliant, hilarious ride about falling down the rabbit hole of a chirpy internet commenter getting under your skin. Despite everyone in his life telling him to do the smart thing and ignore it, Michael actually goes out to confront his troll IRL. Does it result in him getting sliced up by a neckbeard freak with katanas and samurai swords on the wall? Or do they get deep and bro down? You’ll have to see it for yourself.
During the Q&A afterward, I asked him if he thinks creators who claim they “never read the comments” are straight-up LIARS. He gave an emphatic, immediate yes. I couldn’t agree more. Anyone who says they don’t read them is putting on a front. You can find LEAVE A COMMENT right now on MeansTV. Shout out to Skyler Higley as well, who did an opening stand-up set before the screening to get the room in the mood for some laughs.
Timely vs. Timeless… a Brutal Internet Content Rule You’re Ignoring
All of this talk about creators, comments, and the internet grind brings me to my latest Substack essay, which I highly recommend checking out if you want a peek behind the curtain of the modern digital gold rush.
Last week, I dropped $500 on a ticket to the Press Publish LA Hollywood Creator Summit on the Fox studio lot (out of pocket, not a BroBible expense), hosted by YouTube legends Colin and Samir. I wanted to decode the attention economy with a room full of video creators all chasing the exact same dragon: how to make stuff we actually love without going broke.
What I walked away with was a series of hard, actionable truths from the frontlines of Hollywood’s creator class. In the essay, I break down:
- Why “I love your product” is a terrible brand pitch: You need to pitch with a sense of “violence”… a collaborative business vision, not lukewarm fandom.
- The delusion of “epic content”: Why brands won’t fund your personal $80,000 travel bucket list if it doesn’t solve a specific business problem.
- The spectator paradox: Understanding why the audiences who love to watch you “sweat and bleed” on the journey aren’t necessarily the ones who will buy your art.
- The ultimate content framework: How to master the “content barbell” of Timely vs. Timeless. To do this, you have to use daily, timely reps to buy the creative freedom to build the things that will actually outlive you.
If you’re trying to make a full-time living with your art online, or you’re just curious about the internet’s content sausage factory, go read the full essay here on Substack. Don’t forget to hit that subscribe button while you’re there… it directly fuels this vision quest.
Two other BroBible programming notes:
#1. Please read Aaron Perlut’s interview with legendary Hot Tuna and Jefferson Airplane guitarist Jorma Kaukonen on why he refuses to suck at 85. It’s great. Some uppity dude on the site formerly known as Twitter is really mad that BroBible got an interview with such a legend. I guess we’re beneath him or something? Stuff like this used to get under my skin, but the pretentiousness of music fans over media access to tell an awesome story to a new audience is kinda lolz to me these days. Like, it just doesn’t matter at all in this era of Internet storytelling. And it’s a great conversation with a music legend. Also, FYI, Bob: we’ve talked to all sorts of amazing musical legends here on this website before, and I’m incredibly proud of each one.
One final thing: Shout out to the Trader Joe’s red lobster gummies. Man, they’re delicious and getting me through it right now.
I will not stress-eat the whole bag.
I will not stress-eat the whole bag.
I will not stress-eat the whole bag.
…Damnit. Did it again.
Alright.. let’s get to the gear.

Pelican CRATE Series Modular Cargo Cases
If you’ve spent any time vehicle-camping, overlanding, or just trying to keep your gear from sliding around and getting buried in your truck bed, you know storage is a constant headache. Pelican just changed the game. Fresh off their reveal at Overland Expo West, Pelican has officially launched the CRATE Series, marking their first-ever modular cargo line built around an exterior rail system. They’re now for sale at Pelican for all your overlanding gearheads out there that need a great option for stashing all your stuff.
Available in a compact 45L and a massive 90L, these aren’t just plain polymer boxes. Molded from Pelican’s proprietary, crushproof HPXC resin, they carry an IP67 rating, making them completely dustproof and waterproof (even if submerged in a meter of water for 30 minutes).
What makes this Pelican drop so great is the integrated ModRail™ system. It allows you to mount accessories, tie-downs, or T-slot attachments directly on the outside of the cases without drilling any holes. Even cooler, Pelican teamed up with The Mounting Company to design the CR45 and CR90 quick-release aluminum mounts. You can lock your crates securely to your roof rack or truck bed and remove them in literally seconds with the pull of a pin.
With an interlocking design that allows the 45L and 90L sizes to stack perfectly, plus a multi-position lid that can open from either side or be removed entirely, it’s the ultimate setup for organizing your recovery gear, tools, or camping kit.
- Molded from proprietary, crushproof HPXC resin
- IP67-rated dustproof and waterproof (submersible up to 1 meter for 30 minutes)
- Integrated ModRail™ system for mounting exterior accessories without drilling
- Compatible with CR45 and CR90 quick-release aluminum mounts (co-designed with The Mounting Company)
- Interlocking stackable design allows 45L and 90L sizes to nest perfectly
- Multi-position removable lid opens from either side
- 45L capacity: 18.2″ x 13.5″ x 11.5″ (exterior specs)
- 90L capacity: 26.5″ x 18.5″ x 12.5″ (exterior specs)
Did I mention that these are MADE IN THE USA at Pelican’s factory here in the South Bay of beautiful Los Angeles? Now I did. Hell yeah!

Ford Bronco Filson Edition
Man, I love pretty much everything Filson has ever made. This winter might be the year that I finally pull the trigger on the heirloom-quality Mackinaw Wool Cruiser Jacket I’ve wanted for… practically forever.
Obviously, the Ford Bronco is iconic. So it’s super cool that two legendary American groups have combined forces to create a limited-edition Ford Bronco for outdoor adventures. It reminds me of the CLASSIC Ford Explorer x Eddie Bauer collabs of yesteryear.
Ford and Seattle’s legendary outdoor purveyors, Filson, just teamed up to deliver the ultimate outdoor machine: the first-ever Ford Bronco Filson Edition. This is the perfect collision of Bronco’s rugged off-road capability and Filson’s timeless, heirloom-quality design. If you’re into the gentlemanly outdoor lifestyle, it’s a grail of a collab.
Check out the video they released on it. So sick:
To make sure this thing actually handles the wild, Ford didn’t hold back. It’s powered by a serious 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 and comes standard with the brutal Sasquatch package—meaning you get high-performance Fox shocks and massive 35-inch rugged-terrain tires straight out of the gate.
But the real magic here is the cabin. The design team has elevated the interior into a crafted, quiet retreat with perforated, quilted leather and heavy-duty woven fabric inspired by Filson’s signature rugged twill. It’s engineered with acoustic glass to deliver the quietest Bronco cabin yet, and it features brass accents and customized, removable door-mounted saddlebags built to hold your fly-fishing boxes, first-aid kits, or cameras on the go. As Ford’s global design director Paul Wraith put it, there’s a difference between “premium” and “precious”… this cabin is built to wear in.
- Power-packed with a 3.0-liter EcoBoost® V6 engine optimized with application-specific tuning
- Standard Sasquatch® package with front/rear locking differentials and high-performance Fox™ bypass shocks
- Massive 35-inch rugged-terrain tires on custom-painted heritage wheel arches
- Relentlessly durable interior featuring perforated, quilted leather and Filson-inspired rugged twill fabric accents
- Highly functional, removable storage door saddlebags and optional cargo-area storage kits
- Quiet-cabin technology featuring advanced airflow, acoustic glass, and enhanced seals for 20% less wind noise

OluKai x New Heights Mea Ola Nu‘u Sandal
Back in 2018, right after the Birds finally won their first Super Bowl in thirty-something years, I found myself talking to Jason Kelce about his beard. He is exactly the kind of guy you’d expect… fully authentic, zero pretension, and totally unapologetic about his level of comfort. In fact, his love for wearing slides and sandals year-round (especially to games) is kinda legendary.
So, it makes perfect sense that premium footwear brand OluKai has teamed up with the New Heights podcast to launch a limited-edition take on Jason’s favorite sandal, the Mea Ola Nu‘u, just in time for Father’s Day. Built on their bestselling silhouette, these premium full-grain leather sandals feature custom football-inspired lacing, gold foil signatures from both Jason and Travis Kelce, and a “New Heights Equipment Co.” stamp on the heel. It’s the ultimate premium leather sandal designed for life off the field, whether you’re heading to the grill, the game, or just the couch.
- Built on OluKai’s bestselling Mea Ola silhouette—a long-time personal favorite of Jason Kelce

Huckberry Palm Straw Sun Hat
If we are fully committing to the anti-UV defense grid with the Helly Hansen hoodie, we might as well go all the way. I desperately need a proper summer sun hat for working in the yard and hanging out on the beach, and the crew at Huckberry has somehow engineered the ultimate utility straw hat.
Now, some reviewers say their wives absolutely hate this thing, with one friend describing it as looking like “a cowboy hat and a sun hat had a baby out of wedlock.” Personally, I think that’s a selling point.
But the wildest detail here is the neck strap. It is made from a 50/50 mix of Kevlar and polyester, boasting a ridiculous 415-pound tensile strength. If you ever need to tow a small vehicle or rappel down a cliff face in an emergency, your sun hat has your back. It’s cool, comfortable, keeps its shape, and keeps the heat from eating you alive.
- Wide-brim design crafted for maximum protection from the harshest UV rays
- Heavy-duty neck strap made of 50% Kevlar and 50% Polyester capable of holding up to 415 lbs of tensile strength
- Inner elastic sweatband ensures a secure, comfortable, out-of-the-box fit
- Highly breathable, lightweight natural palm straw construction designed to stay cool
- Durable build that easily keeps its shape trip after trip

Air Jordan 3 “World’s Best”
Ah, NBA Finals season. I’m hyped that the Knicks are in it, though, admittedly, growing up in the ’90s I was a cliche Chicago Bulls “Be Like Mike” fan who despised the Knicks in all those heated Eastern Conference Championship games of legend.
I’ve got a little confession: I have a pair of Jordans like these stashed away in my closet somewhere. I haven’t worn them, I haven’t even laced them up, and to be completely honest, I’m not sure I ever will. I keep them there for one simple reason—I had a pair just like them when I was a kid, and every time I look at them, it brings back that pure, untouchable feeling of watching Michael Jordan, the undisputed GOAT, rule the court in the 1990s.
If you want to capture that exact same feeling, these new Jordan 3s are an absolute masterpiece. Released just in time for June, this “World’s Best” drop commemorates MJ’s legendary 1996 championship win on Father’s Day—an emotional victory that he famously dedicated to his late father. 30 years later, Nike is paying tribute with a clean, premium leather layout dressed in classic Bulls colors, complete with subtle details that nod to the very locker room where that historic night unfolded.
- Commemorates Michael Jordan’s historic and emotional 1996 championship victory on Father’s Day
- Premium leather construction in a versatile Sail, University Red, Pale Ivory, and Black colorway
- Iconic elephant print overlays textured to mimic the locker room aesthetic of that fated 1996 night
- Classic AJ3 silhouette featuring the signature visible Nike Air unit in the heel
- Includes special storytelling elements celebrating father figures who inspire greatness
Air Jordan 4 “Toro”
Since we are talking about absolute classic Jordans in clean, aggressive colorways, Nike is also bringing back a massive fan-favorite in its full, bullish glory. Originally dropped back in 2013, the legendary “Toro” colorway is making its triumphant return to the Air Jordan 4 silhouette.
If you like your sneakers to make a statement, this is the pair. It features a blazing Fire Red upper contrasted with sharp hits of black and cool Cement Grey. It’s a beautifully executed retro release that stays entirely true to its late-’80s roots while delivering the classic street style that made the 2013 launch an instant classic.
- Celebrates the highly anticipated return of the classic 2013 “Toro” colorway
- Features a vibrant, high-energy Fire Red upper crafted from premium materials
- Accented with timeless black and cool Cement Grey detailing for a bold, balanced look
- Equipped with dual Nike Air cushioning units in both the heel and forefoot for all-day comfort
- Features original 1989 design elements, including the iconic floating eyestays and mesh-like side panels

Vintage ‘Batman’ (1989) Original 35mm Teaser Trailer
I am by no means a hardcore film archivist, and I honestly know next to nothing about the competitive world of physical film cell collecting. But every now and then, you stumble across something on Facebook Marketplace that makes you stop and completely geek out.
If you are a massive movie nerd in the LA area, this is easily one of the coolest local finds of the week. Up for grabs in Culver City is a genuine, theatrical 35mm teaser trailer for Tim Burton’s legendary 1989 Batman. It’s a complete 1 minute and 37-second print with great, preserved coloring. If you’ve got a projector or just want to own an actual physical piece of the marketing machine that launched one of the most culturally massive superhero blockbusters in movie history, this is an incredible, nostalgic collector’s piece. It made me pause to think about how movie trailers, which we mostly take for granted as necessary marketing mechanisms in today’s entertainment world, used to be physical media. Now they’re artifacts of that era.
- Genuine, original 1989 theatrical teaser trailer for Tim Burton’s Batman
- Physical 35mm film cell reels with a runtime of 1 minute and 37 seconds
- Kept in excellent, used-like-new condition with beautifully preserved coloring
- An incredibly unique physical media collector’s item for comic book fans and vintage cinema enthusiasts alike
- Local LA-area Facebook Marketplace listing located in Culver City, CA

Birkenstock 1774 “Romanticismo” Collection
To wrap up this week’s footwear selections—and I promise, this is the last of the shoe talk—we have to look at something a bit more aspirational. If you know me, you know I basically live in my standard Birkenstocks practically all year round at this point in my life. They are my absolute go-to. But this latest drop from their ultra-premium 1774 line is on an entirely different level. It’s essentially the closest thing to a “dress Birkenstock” you can get.
Crafted with high-end Italian craftsmanship and assembled in Germany, the “Romanticismo” collection elevates three of the brand’s iconic silhouettes into absolute luxury statement pieces. Featuring uppers made from untreated, natural Italian nappa leather, these shoes are designed to let the natural grains shine through. For a high-end finish, Birkenstock wrapped the entire footbed in matching nappa leather and detailed the edges with refined contrast piping. It’s a stunning, cross-cultural revision of the classics that makes standard sandals look like formal wear.
- Features three iconic silhouettes: the Boston clog, the Arizona slide, and the back-strapped Milano (celebrating its 50th anniversary)
- Crafted with untreated, smooth natural Italian nappa leather that ages beautifully over time
- Includes Birkenstock’s premium “Exquisite” treatment, wrapping the entire cork-latex footbed in matching nappa leather
- Finished with refined piping details and contrast stitching along the edges
