Volkswagen has been manufacturing the adorable Golf since 1974. But there has never been a Golf like Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR. The new VW will be the fastest and most powerful GTI ever made. This German compact may look small, but it packs a punch and can hit a top speed of 164 mph. Good things do come in small packages. Volkswagen unveiled the Golf GTI TCR Concept on Thursday at the 2018 Wörthersee Tour in Austria.

Volkswagen’s Golf GTI race car developed for the TCR International Series, but this street-legal version brings its touring genes into a production car. This little guy is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 that will provide 290 horsepower and 272 pound-feet of torque. The front-wheel-drive hatch has a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and front axle differential lock. The standard trim has 18-inch forged wheels and a top speed of 155 mph. But you can upgrade the Golf GTI to 19-inch wheels, 20mm-lower adjustable sports suspension, high-performance braking system with cross-drilled rotors, Akrapovic titanium exhaust, and it will have a 164 mph top speed.

The Golf GTI TCR Concept even looks faster with a new lip spoiler, side skits, and rear diffuser. The racing-themed interior features black and red microfiber bucket seats with racing stripes, a paddleshift gearbox, and sports steering wheel. This small car will seat five. The Volkswagen GTI TCR will be available late this year… in Europe. No word on if this hot hatch is coming to the United States. Pricing and full specs have yet to be released.
