The Future Really Is NOW: First Personal Jetpack Tested And It’s Straight Out Of A ‘James Bond’ Film

People toss around ‘the future is now’ phrase waaaayyyyyyyyy too frequently. For my money that phrase should ONLY be used to describe situations seen in either The Jetsons or a James Bond film. And that’s precisely why I’m totally cool with applying it here because James Bond himself used a personal jetpack back in 1965’s Thunderball set in The Bahamas (a personal Bond favorite of mine). Even though Thunderball is one of Sean Connery’s weakest Bond films in terms of plot and SFX it has a special place in my heart because I’ve spent a lot of time fishing, SCUBA diving, and snorkeling at the actual Thunderball Cave located just off Staniel Cay in The Bahamas…Enough about my vacations though, let’s check out some GIFs of this thing in action:

Debuted this week in London, the world’s very first personal jetpack is expected to hit the market and be sold directly to consumers within the next three years according to this video and other reports. I saw a clip of the world’s first personal jetpack in action this morning shared on the TODAY show and suddenly I’ve never wanted something so badly in my entire life.

It’s pretty goddamn frustrating that they’d announce the world’s first personal jetpack is coming to the public but they didn’t state how much it’ll retail for when it finally hits the market. I need to know how much I should be stashing away in my piggy bank each week in order to afford this personal jetpack when it’s finally for sale.
