At The Miss Universe Pageant, Miss USA Had The Perfect Answer For How To Fight Terrorism

Pretty much everyone on the internet right now is mocking Miss USA, Nia Sanchez. That’s because, during the interrogation part of last night’s Miss Universe pageant, she was asked what she would do to fight domestic and international terrorism. An issue I might add that plagues the world and not just its most attractive people.

Here’s what she had to say:

She wants to spread a message of “hope and love and peace.” For that, she is receiving the derision and scorn of the mocking.

Mashable took a shot. As did US Weekly. The Twitterverse went nuts.

Which like, what the fuck man? The solution to war and strife is love. That’s the shit Gandhi and MLK and Buddha preached, but because she’s a hot chick she is instantly lampooned as being dumb?

That’s stupid, as though if you were asked that question you would say, “well, I would first see how the situation in the Yemini Pennisula played out, and whether the Shia rebels who have taken over the capital aligned themselves with AQAP or ISIS. Then I’d use that to assess whether our aggressive drone policy was actually fomenting anti-American sentiments, and whether the Saudis recent increase in oil production could allow Americans to entirely withdraw from the Middle East and thus maybe let us extend an olive branch and make peace with radicals, knowing full well that none of our actions have any certainty of success or will provide individual actors from still carrying out attacks.”

That’s just bullshit policy. Love and peace is the real fix. It ain’t a bad message at all, and fuck all you interneters who think it is.

Here she is at the swimsuit part of the competition.

Bet Condi Rice never looked that good in a tankini while handling geopolitical strife.

Miss Colombia won the competition.
