Laura Prepon is not leaving ‘Orange is the New Black’

The only ginger you’ve ever loved is leaving the only orange show you’ve ever watched. That’s right, Laura Prepon is leaving the Netflix hit, Orange is the New Black, or so some will have you believe.

Netflix

The news swept the internet last night, but it all stems from Buzzfeed. I have no reason to believe their information from “sources close to the show” is incorrect, but nothing has been confirmed by Prepon, her agents, or Netflix. Until then I refuse to believe it. Leaving a critically acclaimed show on which she’s lead character after just one year seems like an odd choices for an middling actress. She was the focal point of the main plotline and half the reason people are watching in the first place. Smoking hot potential lesbianism is always a draw!

Orange is the New Black is based on the memoir of the same name from Piper Kerman detailing her experiences in prison, so it’s entirely possible that Prepon’s character was shanked in real life and the story really does end abruptly. Buzzfeed also said she’ll be back to wrap up story lines in a few episodes of season 2, so that’s a possible exit plan. I’m still not buying it though. I expect to see Laura Prepon in all her glory for the entire season 2 of Orange is the New Black.
