What’s hot this week in men’s fashion, gadgets, and gear

This weekly feature is a round-up, in conjunction with our friend Tim over at Cool Material, of the hot new products appearing online this week. From fashion tips to cool gadgets and gear, take a look at your new obsessions.

VSSL Supplies

Survival Kit
When packing your bag for an outdoor excursion, it can be easy to stuff it until the zipper pops with gear you might need in an emergency. In an effort to pare down the necessities, VSSL created this Supplies cylinder. Each is made from seamless extruded military specification anodized aluminum and contains an LED flashlight, compass, beeswax candle, water purification tabs, wire saw, waterproof matches, and lots more to keep your ass safe for a little bit of time. Everything is contained within the 8″ tube so you can easily toss it in your backpack without worrying about how you’re going to lug the thing around.

AKG

Bluetooth Headphones
If you hate earbuds but don’t want a large pair of over-ear headphones, your high performance options are limited. The new Y45BT model from AKG is one of the few pairs that fit the bill. Not only are they lightweight and compact, but they can even fold up for storage when you’re not blasting beats in your ears. The Bluetooth cans deliver 8 hours of music on a charge, and allow you to control volume and other things right on the ear-cup. No cords, little weight, but still the killer performance you’d expect from a pair of AKGs.

Jaguar

Lightweight E-Types
Everything old will be new again, and while Jaguar has been churning out brand new stunners as of late, the new Special Operations project draws on the beauty of the 1964 E-Type and brings its good looks back for a few lucky people. Jaguar Heritage is crafting each of these six (yeah, they’re fairly limited) Lightweight E-Types by hand over in England, and basing each off of the specifications of the last version delivered in 1964. Originally, 18 were supposed to be built back in 1964 but only 12 of the aluminum-bodied rides were, so, in essence, these are the missing six. They will be sold as competition vehicles, so your dreams of flying down the street in one will have to remain just a fantasy.

Cool Material Shop

Cool Material x Bradley Mountain Watch Roll
As time goes by, we seem to collect important watches in our lives. There’s the one passed down from our pops, the one we received when we graduated from high school, the one we first really invested in, and a few knockarounds for everyday wear. The one thing they all have in common: They need to be protected to last. We teamed up with Bradley Mountain to create this custom watch roll designed for traveling with your collection of timepieces or keeping them on display at home without the fear of getting them scratched up. We designed the Waxed Canvas Watch Roll in-house and it’s available exclusively in the Cool Material Shop. Each roll holds up to 6 watches and is secured for traveling by a simple oiled leather strap. Each is handmade in the USA and designed to last a lifetime so you can have a watch or two to pass down to your son when the time comes.

Emberlight

Smart Light
There are plenty of smart home, home automation and remote access solutions for your lights on the market, but few are as cool, or affordable, as Emberlight. The entire process is so simple you wouldn’t even need to explain it to your grandmother. Take out your bulb. Screw in Emberlight. Put bulb back. Get Emberlight on your home wifi. Enjoy. What makes it different than the other options? It works with any dimmable light bulb. If you install it in a shaded lamp or an overhead can it won’t be seen. The app can tell you what lights are on or off. You can turn lights off remotely, and even provide temporary access to guests. You can set quick mood presets for your lights. In our books, the coolest feature is the ability to automatically turn lights on or off automatically using Bluetooth proximity. Your friends will think it’s magic

Converse

Classic Jack Purcells
On the Mount Rushmore of shoe celebs, there’s Jordan, Chuck, and Jack Purcell. And the latter just got a bit of a killer makeover. These Jack Purcell Cross Stitch Leather sneakers sport the same low profile as the iconic canvas shoes, but get clad in stunning leather. The visible cross stitching adds a bit of flair to the otherwise unassuming sneaker, and they’re available in a few different colors for you to choose from. They’re refined classics we’d recommend adding to your sneaker collection.

EXTO

Stylish Extension Cords
Extension cords and power strips suck, but they’re a necessary evil for a lot of us because apartments, older houses, condos, townhomes, cabins, garages–the list goes on and on–have outlets that are too far from wherever you are. Your power hungry smartphone, laptop, tablet, etc. are not ok with this. Enter the extension cord or power strip. Functional, yes, but also ugly as hell. Until now! The EXTŌ Extension Cords from Conway Electric are the first convenient power extension cables you won’t want to hide. They’re all made with tamper resistant outlets, 12′ cloth cords, slip resistant feet and an easy to grab rubber casing for the part that goes in the wall.

Buck Knives

Corrosion Resistant Knives
It’s not everyday we see a press release for basic outdoor tools that won’t be on sale for half a year, so when we do, we figure there must be something about them. The Compadre Series from Buck Knives includes three tools—camping knife, hatchet, and chopping froe—all of which are corrosion-resistant thanks to the eye-catching red powdercoat finish. Combine the pop of color with the walnut-dymondwood handles, and you have a collection of some of the best-looking outdoor tools we’ve ever come across. You’ll have to wait until spring to get your hands on them, but they’ll add a nice dose of style to your camping excursions next year.
