WWE launches their own network, 24/7 streaming service

Pretty big news in the world of wrestling as the WWE will launch their own network with 24/7 streaming service. All 12 Pay-Per-View events will be available for $6.99 a month. The network will also launch original programming, including a reality show with “Rowdy” Roddy Piper and “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan, among others.

The McMahons have gone big before and failed (XFL, Senate races), but this one seems like a home run. It gives loyal fans a cheaper alternative to purchasing pay-per-view events and at the same time gives fringe fans a peak into WWE.

Truly brilliant stuff. The network will launch on February 24th at 9pm.

Vince McMahon:

“Today is a historic day for WWE as we transform and reimagine how we deliver our premium live content and 24/7 programming directly to our fans around the world,” said Vince McMahon, WWE Chairman & Chief Executive Officer. “WWE Network will provide transformative growth for our company and unprecedented value for our fans.”

Bob Bowman (CEO of MLB Advanced Media who collaborated with WWE):

“We applaud WWE for this bold, timely and strategic move to fully optimize the power and potential of live entertainment,” said Bob Bowman, President and CEO, MLBAM. “We are proud to work with WWE to help provide its millions of loyal fans with unencumbered access to distinctive and engaging live content across the devices they use most.”
