Chick-fil-A Opened Up On Sunday To Give Out Free Food To People Donating Blood After Orlando Shooting

If you have a Chick-fil-A near you, there’s a good chance that the day you crave their delectable fried chicken the most is on Sunday. That is because they are not open on Sundays. It never fails. The fast food joint has a policy to shutter their doors on Sundays dating all the way back to 1946 so that employees can “have an opportunity to rest, spend time with family and friends, and worship if they choose to do so.” However, at least two Chick-fil-A restaurants made an exception this past Sunday so that they could provide free food to masses of generous people who donated blood to help the 53 people injured in the Orlando shooting.

The Atlanta-based fast food chain fired up the fryers to deliver deep-fried support, love and nutrition to those who were giving much-needed blood to the victims of the massacre at the gay nigthclub.

Chick-fil-A employees went to the blood drives and handed out free sandwiches and ice tea to the amazing volunteers who gave blood and first responders. Many Good Samaritans waited several hours to donate blood.

The Facebook post shows workers giving out free food with the caption:

A few members of our awesome team decided to go into work on a Sunday and make some food for people waiting in line to donate blood. We love our city and love the people in our community. ‪#‎prayfororlando‬

Another Chick-fil-A restaurant lowered their American flag to half-staff and had a message stating, “God Bless the USA. Home is where the (heart) is. Orlando is our home. ‪#‎prayfororlando.”

Chick-fil-A operates under Christian values, which means it doesn’t support gay marriage. But the fast food chain’s beliefs didn’t stop them from coming to the aid of the Orlando LGBT community.

In the past, Chick-fil-A has shown that they care about their community. Every year on Veteran’s Day, some of the Chick-fil-A restaurants show their appreciation of the intrepid military members by setting a “Missing Man Table.”

Tremendous gesture by Chick-fil-A.
