‘I Wish I Would’ve Shot You’ – Christy Mack’s Mother Says To War Machine During Emotional Trial

On Monday, Christy Mack’s mother took the stand in the trial against War Machine. During her emotional testimony, Mack’s mom Erin Mackinday, was asked if she regretted not reporting any signs of abuse before the alleged assault.

That’s when she looked directly at War Machine, formerly Jon Koppenhaver, and said:

“No. I wish I would’ve shot you.”

Mack’s mother gave more testimony about an alleged earlier incident of domestic abuse by War Machine.

Erin told the jury about the first time she witnessed War Machine physically abusing her daughter Christine Mackinday, known as Christy Mack.

“I held on to her and said shut up! He will kill you! Shut up!”, said Erin Mackinday.

The attack happened inside Mack’s home in May 2013. Mackinday remembers staying inside a downstairs room when the fight broke out.

“She said, ‘he grabbed me by my neck and drug me up the stairs.’ I called the police”, said Mackinday.

Mackinday says the fight broke out over a pet snake’s water. She’ll never forget War Machine’s reaction after the attack.

“He stood in the closet with his laundry bag taking his clothes stuffing it in there saying I’m going to kill! I’m going to kill you!”, said Mackinday.

War Machine also allegedly punched a dog because it bit him.

During the trial in Las Vegas, Mackinday revealed that she received text messages from Koppenhaver after the early morning attack that instructed her to visit her daughter’s home.

“Go to her house and check in on her,” he said.

“There was huge fight when I came in. The guy she was in bed with came at me,” he allegedly texted the mother later that day.

Mackinday called Koppenhaver and he allegedly told her, “We got in a fight. I had to beat her up.”

The mother cried as she recalled seeing her daughter after being battered and bruised.

“She was laying in the bed and it didn’t look like her,” Mackinday said.

Mack, whose real name is Christine Mackinday, was taken to the hospital. She suffered a broken nose, lost and broken teeth, bruising, and a fractured rib.

Koppenhaver is on trial for allegedly storming into Mack’s home and viciously assaulting her and her then-boyfriend Corey Thomas on August 8, 2014. Thomas said that during the 12-minute violent encounter he was bitten and put in a choke hold. He suffered a broken nose, dislocated shoulder, scrapes, bruises, and bite marks on his face and arm.

Also on Monday, Las Vegas Detective Jessica Flynk testified that there were text messages between Mack and War Machine in the day leading up to the attack. She noted that the messages alternated from aggressive to sexual. “There’s a back-and-forth mixed in with sexting and ‘I love you’ texts,” Flynk said. Mack and War Machine were not officially together at the time of the attack.

Evidence from Monday also said that the 35-year-old MMA fighter was allegedly going to Mack’s house on the day of the attack to propose to her.

“Please tweet her this. ‘He was going there early with a ring to surprise you b-tch,’” Koppehaver allegedly texted friend Phil Baroni after the assault. “Need to get her sentimental and on my side,” Koppenhaver also wrote, according to court evidence.

On Thursday, the former porn star admitted that she sent Koppenhaver a topless photo before he attacked her.

Koppenhaver was charged on 34 counts, including attempted murder, kidnapping, and sexual assault. He has pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
