Florida Residents Complain Of Foul Odor — Workers Find Huge Decomposing Monster Gator Of Your Nightmares

To most sane individuals the sight of fully-grown alligators can be pretty terrifying, but to the average Floridian seeing an adult gator walking across the road or swimming in a pool is just a part of every day life. This though, this is a demon gator that even has us jaded Floridians scratching our head in bewilderment.

This all went down in Fort Myers, Florida where local residents had been complaining of a foul odor emanating from a drainage ditch. Thinking there was some sort of a backup, possibly an alligator snapping turtle or feral dog, the local Public Works Department opened up the storm drain to investigate. What they found was a decomposing alligator that was so massive it looked like a character straight out of the TMNT cartoons (Leatherhead, I’m talking about Leatherhead).

Lee County Manager Roger Desjarlais shared a photo of this prehistoric monster on his Facebook page with the caption “The drainage system in this Fort Myers neighborhood was backed up so someone called our Public Works Department to investigate. Here’s what our guys found. Eleven feet long.”:

Before we get to the rest of this story can we just acknowledge how foolish that man in the orange vest looks? Okay, moving on…

Betsy Clayton, public information officer for Lee County, said a call from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office on Monday alerted the department of transportation to a bad odor coming from a catch basin in the Whiskey Creek community.
She said the DOT crew got there, confirmed the odor and went about figuring out what was the cause.
What they found was a very dead 11-foot-long alligator stuck in the catch basin.
“About twice a year we get calls for gators,” she said. Mostly, though, Clayton said the gators are not that large.
“Our pipes are not that big,” she said.
The pipe the gator probably came through was about 14-by-24 inches, she said, but where it was found was in the catch basin, which measures about 4-feet-wide. The gator was located about 2 to 3 feet below ground in the catch basin.

It’s a total bummer that an alligator that large could live his long ass life as the apex predator only to meet his maker while stuck in a clogged storm drain. That dinosaur deserved better, but he’s also a fool for getting his big ass stuck down there when he could’ve just hung out in the local ponds and munched on Florida cattle.
