Are You Ready For The Sequel To The Biggest Video Game of 2014?

Don’t have time to keep track of all the latest updates on your favorite video games? Don’t worry, bro! We gotchu. Every week, we’ll be recapping the biggest gaming news, updates, trailers and more in one handy guide.

VIDEO GAME NEWS FOR NOVEMBER 7TH

Destiny 2

Destiny only launched worldwide in September, but it’s already getting a sequel! This shouldn’t come as a surprise. It’s the biggest game of the year with one of the largest new gaming franchise launches of all time, and active users are averaging three hours a day of game play. Activision did a fantastic job in teasing out its release all through the year, including with its BETA launch in July, and it paid off. If you haven’t played Destiny yet, you’re missing out. As a Guardian with immense power, you are a protector of the last city on Earth as dark forces return to squash civilization. What do you think the sequel will be about? Give us your theories in the comments.

Duck Hunt

You remember Duck Hunt, don’t you? It was one of those old-school Nintendo games where we shot ducks, while that daft dog taunted us nonsensically whenever we missed. We can see him now, chuckling at our misfortune. You can relive all the glory (and frustration) of the original game thanks to Wii U’s Virtual Console, as was announced during a Nintendo Direct presentation on Wednesday. No release date or price point were announced, but it will require a Wii Remote controller, which hopefully looks exactly like those plastic rifles.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D

Along with Duck Hunt, another great game from our childhoods is coming back. (And we say childhoods assuming that you’re in your mid-to-late 20s.) The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, which we played on Nintendo 64, is getting remade for Nintendo 3DS. What was described as a “dark departure from the Zelda formula” sent Link through time to stop the moon from crashing into the planet. Nintendo already remade the prequel to Majora’s Mask, Ocarina of Time, for 3DS back in 2011, so fans only now getting into this storyline can continue their adventures.

In addition to the announcement trailer (which you can watch above) and the cool poster (which you can also see above), UK gamers will be getting the option to purchase a special edition pack, which will drop next spring and include a Majora’s Mask pin with accompanying jewelry box, a steenbok game case, and a two-sided poster. No word yet on an American release, but we’re crossing our fingers for one.

LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham

At this point, the new LEGO Batman game shouldn’t even be called a Batman game. The Dark Knight certainly plays a big part in this latest installment, but there are now 150 DC comics characters populating this world, including some of the most obscure ones you’d ever come across. “This is almost an A to Z of DC characters and we have got every character we can possibly get into this video game,” said director Arthur Parsons, and he’s not kidding. As seen in the behind-the-scenes video above, there’s Polka-Dot Man, Condiment King and the impossible to pronounce Mister Mxyzptlk, in addition to your favorite Justice Leaguers and DC villains.

Grand Theft Auto 5

Who in this day and age — besides hipsters and older generations — still have record players? Regardless, vinyl is a thing again, as seen with special vinyl releases for the Jurassic Park and Ghostbusters’ soundtracks. Now, one of the most unnecessary releases is coming in the form of a vinyl edition of the Grand Theft Auto 5 soundtrack.

The collection will feature six records featuring music from the original score, A$AP Rocky, Tyler, The Creator, Twin Shadow, Wavves, Flying Lotus and Yeasayer, to name a few. It also comes with a special booklet and poster. And just in case you don’t have a record player, it’ll also be released on CD, an even more unnecessary medium. At least the vinyl is cool to look at.

Dragon Age: Inquisition

It seems even Dragon Age is on the Maleficent kick. In the latest trailer for the role-playing game, we meet Vivienne, one of the most powerful mages in the game who seems to be taking her fashion cues from the wicked witch of Sleeping Beauty. She’ll come to join your ranks amidst a world-shaking event, a dragon infestation and a Mage-Templar war. She’s the best ranged spell cast in the series, so be sure to get everyone else out of her way so she can go to town on her enemies.

E.T. for Atari

There once was an E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial video game for the Atari 2600 that was rumored to have caused the collapse of the console gaming genre 30 years ago. Copies of these games were recently unearthed in a New Mexico landfill, and another rumor was that the game was so bad that they were left to be buried there. While some of these copies are going up for auction on eBay for more than $500 a pop, an upcoming documentary proves to debunk these damning reports. To be released on November 20 on Xbox, Atari: Game Over tells the behind-the-scenes tale of the game’s programmers, as well as the excavation process.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection

Are you ready for the ultimate Halo experience? All four games, including a remastered Halo 2: Anniversary, a Beta version of Halo 5: Guardians and even the digital live-action series Halo: Nightfall, are brought together for Halo: The Master Chief Collection, releasing on November 11. A launch trailer for the event was released earlier this week to reflect on some of our favorite moments carousing through this universe. Check it out above.
