I’ve Never Cared About Anything More Than This Dude Cares About Winning This Arcade Game

I’ve lived 27 years on this planet. I’ve traveled the world. I’ve loved. I’ve done drugs. I’ve loved doing drugs. I’ve got a supportive family. I’ve had a good hand dealt to me. That’s not lost on me.

But all of it seems so inifintisimal when I see a video like this. Where someone is so invested in the outcome of one particular endeavor that terms like ‘pride’ and ‘dignity’ and ‘friends’ are traded in for terms like ‘victory’ and ‘honor’ and ‘top score’. I’ve never dared to love anything that much. Someone willing to risk his body and his spare quarters to kill off the enemy before his mom picks him up from the mall is not only courageous, it’s downright inspirational. This guy shouldn’t have to pay for one drink or slice of Sbarro pizza at any Food Court he walks into in America. The true American Sniper.

Matt’s love of writing was born during a sixth grade assembly when it was announced that his essay titled “Why Drugs Are Bad” had taken first prize in D.A.R.E.’s grade-wide contest. The anti-drug people gave him a $50 savings bond for his brave contribution to crime-fighting, and upon the bond’s maturity 10 years later, he used it to buy his very first bag of marijuana.
