John Oliver Can’t Believe That Donald Trump Is The President: ‘How The F*ck Did We Get Here?’

On the season finale of Last Week Tonight, John Oliver was in utter disbelief, as were many, that Donald J. Trump will be the next President of the United States.

When thinking about the possibility that Donald Trump would have his choice of at least one seat on the U.S. Supreme Court, Oliver said, “That is one of those phrases you never thought you would hear, like Vanilla Ice is picking up his Nobel Prize in physics.”

Many people are encouraging people to give Trump a chance, but Oliver is skeptical. “It’s like we’re on a plane and just discovered our pilot is a wombat,” he said.

Oliver declared that Trump’s promises that he made while on the campaign trail are too “alarming” to give him a chance. “It’s the to-do list on Satan’s refrigerator, which Satan no longer needs because hell has frozen over,” noted Oliver.

Oliver, who has been a staunch critic of Trump during his entire campaign, answered the question that is on many peoples’ minds, “What do we do next?”

“It’s important to remember many people are happy to see him in office. But for the rest of us, we are faced with the same questions as a guy that woke up the day after a Vegas bachelor party, deep in the desert, naked, tied to a cactus and a dead clown. Namely, how the fuck did we get here? And what the fuck do we do now?”

The HBO host encouraged people to donate time and money to charities and organizations like Planned Parenthood.

Oliver also tackled right-leaning and left-leaning political sites that report fake news and have major influence on Facebook users.

“[Trump] came along and told millions of people every crazy email you’ve ever forwarded was true,” Oliver said. “And that, at least in part, is why he will be our next president.”

“It is going to be too easy for things to start feeling normal, especially if you are someone who is not directly impacted by his actions,” the British comedian stated. “So keep reminding yourself. This is not normal.”

Of course John Oliver urged Donald J. Trump to run back in 2013.

Be careful what you wish for.
