It’s 4/20, which means a story as fantastic as this one deserves to be on your radar. In the ’70s, a smuggling plane flying under the radar from Colombia crashed in the mountains of Yosemite National Park. Both pilots died. A group of mountain climbers chillin’ in Yosemite, however, discovered that the plane was stashed with copious amounts of marijuana. You can pretty much guess what happened next.
The clip is from the film Valley Uprising, a Vimeo documentary about the climbers and mountain men who have been drawn to Yosemite National Park over the years. It’s one of those surreal George Jung and/or Cocaine Cowboys-esque tales that makes you realize how wild the ’70s were.
