North Korea published this photo today to announce the successful miniaturization of its nuclear bombs.
They didn’t do it just for the adorable, adorable photo op, though. It’s so the bombs can fit on intercontinental ballistic missiles and sent out into the world. Via Reuters:
Kim’s comments, released on Wednesday, were his first direct mention of the claim, made repeatedly in state media, to have successfully miniaturized a nuclear warhead, which has been widely questioned and never independently verified.
“The nuclear warheads have been standardized to be fit for ballistic missiles by miniaturizing them,” KCNA quoted Kim as saying as he inspected the work of nuclear scientists, adding “this can be called a true nuclear deterrent”.
Kim recently announced that his state was ready to strike at any moment, and hadn’t ruled out preemptive attacks against America.
And, I mean, yea, the threat of nuclear war isn’t all that enjoyable, but look how cute that baby nuke is.
