Possible Motive And Photos Revealed Of Omar Mateen, Gunman Who Killed 50 People At Orlando Nightclub

Photos of Omar Mateen, the shooter that murdered 50 innocent people at the Pulse gay nightclub in Orlando, have come out. Mateen, an American citizen whose parents are from Afghanistan, gunned down scores of joyous partygoers at an Orlando nightclub. With 50 people killed during the Orlando nightclub shooting it is the deadliest shooting in American history. It has more fatalities than the mass shooting at Virginia Tech in 2007, which left 32 dead and the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut in 2012, which left 27 dead.

The 29-year-old Omar Saddiqui Mateen, is a security guard from Fort Pierce, Florida, and drove a rental car about 120 miles to Orlando to carry out the horrific attack. Mateen was born in New York in 1986.

The massacre has been deemed a domestic act of terrorism. A FBI special agent said there were indications the Mateen may have been motivated by a radical Islamic ideology.

Rep. Adam Schiff, a top Democrat on the House Intelligence committee, told CNN that Mateen had pledged allegiance to ISIS.

Last month, ISIS released a message instructing their followers to launch attacks on the United States and Europe during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, which began on the evening of Sunday, June 5.

“Ramadan, the month of conquest and jihad. Get prepared, be ready … to make it a month of calamity everywhere for the non-believers … especially for the fighters and supporters of the caliphate in Europe and America.”

Mir Seddique, Mateen’s father told NBC News, “This has nothing to do with religion.” Seddique said his son got angry when he saw two men kissing in Miami a couple of months ago and thinks that may be related to the shooting.

“We are saying we are apologizing for the whole incident. We weren’t aware of any action he is taking. We are in shock like the whole country,” Seddique said.
