Only days before the Democratic National Convention kicks off in Philadelphia, Wikileaks has released 19,252 emails from the Democratic National Committee that could potentially be disastrous for the party’s image to potential voters. The hacked emails that were released on Friday morning also feature 8,000 file attachments, including 891 documents and 175 spreadsheets.
“The leaks come from the accounts of seven key figures in the DNC: Communications Director Luis Miranda (10770 emails), National Finance Director Jordon Kaplan (3797 emails), Finance Chief of Staff Scott Comer (3095 emails), Finanace [sic] Director of Data & Strategic Initiatives Daniel Parrish (1472 emails), Finance Director Allen Zachary (1611 emails), Senior Advisor Andrew Wright (938 emails) and Northern California Finance Director Robert (Erik) Stowe (751 emails).”
The emails in the huge leak are from January 2015 to May 2016. The Wikileaks dump contains 5,245 emails about Donald Trump, 2,893 pertaining to Hillary Clinton, and 2,235 on Bernie Sanders.
The whistleblower organization WikiLeaks shared the emails to show how the Democratic National Committee attempted to stifle Bernie Sanders’ campaign even though the DNC is supposed to stay neutral.
There are emails displaying collusion against Bernie Sanders by party officials including creating narratives to take down the self-proclaimed democratic socialist.
There were plots to plant a person to ask Sanders about his religion and paint him as an atheist so that Christian voters would be against him.
Several Democratic sources told CNN that the leaked emails are a big source of contention and may incite tensions between the Clinton and Sanders camps heading into the Democratic convention’s Rules Committee meeting this weekend. Representatives of the former primary rivals are meeting Friday night to discuss the issue.
“It could threaten their agreement,” one Democrat said, referring to the deal reached between Clinton and Sanders about the convention, delegates, and the DNC. The party had agreed to include more progressive principles in its official platform, and as part of the agreement, Sanders dropped his fight to contest Wasserman Schultz as the head of the DNC. “It’s gas meets flame,” the Democrat said.
Donald Trump did not miss the opportunity to chime in on the controversy.
The DNC went so far as to create a fake Craigslist ad looking for “hot women” to paint the Trump campaign as disgustingly sexist.
One email had critical political discourse that said, “Eat my butt.”
The original sender replied, “Gross.”
Don’t knock it til you try it.
Even BroBible gets a shoutout in the Wikileaks emails.
It appears that the site POLITICO sent some articles to the DNC before they published them. Did they do so for accuracy or for approval of the content?
There were emails circulated discussing if the party should allow a lawyer, who defended a pedophile who had multiple charges of sexual abuse against at least 34 underage girls, host a DNC fundraising event with President Obama.
Wikileaks does not specifically credit who leaked the documents, but hacker Guccifer 2.0 recently breached the DNC servers.
