The College World Series field is set. Eight teams will compete for a national title at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska.
This year’s group represents a change from the past. There are no repeat performers from last season, something that hasn’t happened since 1957. All eight squads in the bracket are brand new. It guarantees that a new champion will be crowned when all is said and done.

This year’s field includes two teams from the SEC, an independent, and one squad each from the ACC, Big 12, Big Ten, MVC, and Sun Belt.
Those programs have differing levels of experience at the College World Series. Some are seasoned pros, others are newbies. Here, we’ll break down each school’s history in Omaha, as well as their last appearance.

Arkansas baseball booked its ticket to Omaha by sweeping SEC rival Tennessee in the Super Regional. They entered the NCAA Tournament as the No. 3 seed in the 64-team bracket.
The Razorbacks last appeared in the College World Series in 2022. They finished third in that field behind Ole Miss and Oklahoma. Arkansas has now made it to the CWS eight times since 2004 and is seeking its first national championship.

Arizona is making its 19th all-time appearance in Omaha after moving through the bracket as an underdog. The Wildcats entered the postseason as a No. 2 seed in the Eugene Regional.
They not only bested former conference rival Oregon to advance to a Super Regional, but they then eliminated national seed North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Arizona last appeared in the College World Series in 2021, where it went 0-2.

Coastal Carolina is back in the College World Series for the first time since 2016. The Chanticleers are a perfect 5-0 in postseason play after sweeping through the Conway Regional and Auburn Super Regional.
This is just the second time the program’s made a trip to Omaha. The first time around went pretty well as the Chants won the national championship. This year, they’ll hope to repeat that success.
Louisville Cardinals

Louisville is another underdog that’s proven difficult to beat in the NCAA Tournament. The Cardinals took down No. 1 overall seed Vanderbilt in the Regional round before besting ACC rival Miami in Super Regional action.
The program has made five previous trips to Omaha with the latest coming in 2019. The Cardinals finished third in the College World Series bracket that season.
LSU Tigers

LSU baseball boasts the seventh-most College World Series appearances in the sport. They’ll be making their 20th trip to Omaha after taking down West Virginia in the Supers.
Historically, the Tigers have been one of the most successful teams in the postseason, winning seven national titles. They last appeared in a CWS field in 2023 when they won it all.
Murray State Racers

Murray State is the lone College World Series rookie in the field. The Racers have never made it to Omaha before. This year’s team is making history, and there’s a chance for more to come.
The program surprised as a four-seed in the Oxford Regional by besting host Ole Miss. The Racers then upset Duke the following weekend to land a spot in their first CWS bracket. They’ll now try to bring a national championship back to campus.
Oregon State Beavers

Oregon State has won three national championships in program history. The most recent came in 2018, which is also the last time they’ve appeared in Omaha. The Beavers got here this season despite playing as an Independent without a conference.
After the PAC-12’s demise, the team got creative in scheduling. It paid off in the form of a Top 8 national seed, and ensuing run to the College World Series.
UCLA Bruins

The UCLA baseball team landed the 15th overall seed in the NCAA Tournament following a successful first season in the Big Ten. They then rolled through the Los Angeles Regional before beating UTSA in the Supers.
This will be the Bruins’ first trip to the College World Series since 2013. The last time they were in Omaha, they hoisted a national championship trophy.
