Another day, another troubling Boeing accident. A Boeing 737-300 operated by the Senegal-based airline Transair skidded off the runway while on fire at Blaise Diagne International Airport in Dakar, Senegal on Thursday.

Reports vary, but the Boeing 737 was carrying between 78 and 85 people when it “overran the runway” at approximately 1:14 a.m., Senegal’s Ministry of Infrastructure, Land and Air Transport said in an statement.

Malian musician Cheick Siriman Sissoko wrote on Facebook, “Our plane just caught fire” alongside a video that shows flames coming from the engine on the left side of the plane.

Reports claim that either 10 or 11 people were injured in the plane crash. Transport Minister El Malick Ndiaye said 10 people were injured, while a local media report stated that the airport informed that that 11 people were injured including the pilot and four were injured seriously.

Ndiaye stated the Transair flight suffered an “acceleration stop” and that the injured were being treated at a hospital while the rest of the passengers were taken to a hotel.

The airport was reportedly closed following the accident, but reopened around 11:00 a.m.

Also on Thursday, another Boeing 737 broke its nose landing gear while landing at Gazipaşa–Alanya Airport in Turkey, causing one of the plane’s tires to burst and damaging a strut.

The Boeing 737 crash in Senegal also comes just one day after a Boeing 767 crash-landed at Istanbul Airport after its landing gear failed.

The 10-year-old Boeing 767 freighter operated by FedEx Airlines was traveling to Istanbul from Paris’ Charles de Gaulle Airport. It was able to stay on the runway during the crash-landing and come to a stop with no casualties reported.

Earlier this year, an engine cover was ripped off a Boeing 737 during takeoff from Denver International Airport.

In April, a 33-year-old Boeing 767, a Delta passenger jet, had its emergency slide deploy and fall to the ground shortly after taking off from JFK Airport in New York.

In another disturbing recent incident, a door plug on another Boeing 737 blew off the plane while flying at around 16,000 feet.

And two months ago, a Boeing 777 lost a tire after takeoff, damaging several vehicles on the ground.

On top of all of that, two Boeing whistleblowers died suddenly and under mysterious circumstances after they publicly questioned the causes of safety failures on multiple Boeing jets.
