New York Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner and NFL defensive rookie of the year is obviously quite excited about the team’s acquisition of future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Recently spotted courtside at a New York Knicks game with the 39-year-old Rodgers, Gardner told the New York Post that Rodgers will not only have a massive impact on the team’s offense, but he’ll make Gardner a better player, too.

“I knew he was going to get me better, and by that I was just thinking of him making those tough throws that it’s going to be hard for me to intercept and break up,” Gardner said.

“But he was just telling me that he is going to be able to help me out [by] telling me how teams are going to try to attack me and the things that I can work on as a cornerback. . . . He was telling me he has the secret gems he can give me. Hearing that made me respect him even more. I wasn’t expecting that, but now I’m looking forward to sitting down and watching film and telling him what we’re trying to do and he can tell us what they’re trying to do on offense.”

The bookmakers are certainly expecting Rodgers to have a seismic impact on the Jets as the team is currently one of the top seven favorites to win next year’s Super Bowl, with their odds only trailing that of the Kansas City Chiefs, Philadelphia Eagles, San Francisco 49ers, Cincinnati Bengals, Buffalo Bills, and Dallas Cowboys.

Not only does Rodgers plan on helping Gardner off the field, but he’s also already schooling him off the field, too, as he had to inform the young corner who Jessica Alba was when the pair ran into her at the Knicks game. Luckily for Gardner, though, the kid has clearly earned his “Sauce” nickname as he handled the encounter like a pro.
