Former ESPN host and current Chief NFL Analyst at Pro Football Network Trey Wingo says that Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets is “done.”
The tweet from Wingo comes as the NFL opened their “legal tampering period” earlier today, allowing teams and players to begin negotiating. And after several hours of speculation and useless updates, Wingo has seemingly chimed in with the definitive piece of news
“Hearing Rodgers to the Jets is done. History about to repeat itself between New York and Green Bay. Time is indeed a flat circle,” Wingo tweeted around 3 p.m. on Monday.

The Jets certainly better hope Rodgers agrees to join the team, as free agent quarterbacks such as Derek Carr and Jimmy Garoppolo have agreed to deals with the New Orleans Saints and Las Vegas Raiders, respectively.
Some of the Jets’ players seem to be convinced that Rodgers is on his way to the Big Apple, as NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Garrett Wilson took to Twitter to share his excitement about the team apparently landing the future Hall of Fame signal-caller.
Y’all shud see this smile on me rn 😭

Wilson better not check Ian Rapoport’s Twitter, though, as he’s reporting that nothing has happened in regards to the Jets acquiring Rodgers:
I wish it did. I wish something had happened. But nothing has happened. https://t.co/VqlmRbonxa

If the Jets do land Rodgers, their hope is that the four-time MVP will turn them into title contenders for the first time in over a decade. The Jets haven’t made the playoffs since 2010, which represents the longest postseason drought in the league.
As for Rodgers, the future Hall of Famer is coming off one of his worst seasons as a pro, as he completed 64% of his passes for 3,695 yards (he’s least in a full season since 2015), 26 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions (his most in a season since 2008) while leading the Packers to a playoff-less season. Still, despite his struggles last year, Rodgers would be the best quarterback that the Jets have employed in decades, if not ever.
