The Alabama basketball team suffered a rivalry loss to Auburn on Saturday, 94-85. The game ended with an embarrassing series from transfer Aden Holloway.

The Crimson Tide guard airballed a three-pointer in the final minute that would’ve narrowed his team’s deficit. He then turned the ball over on the final possession to cement the outcome.

Holloway was a key figure in this year’s rivalry, which pit the nation’s No. 1 and No. 2 teams against one another in Tuscaloosa. The sophomore played for the Tigers last season. He left Auburn and landed at Alabama in the offseason believing it to be a better fit.

Holloway played for the first time against his old school this weekend. There were highs and lows in that contest.

He was 3-for-8 from the floor, connecting on one of this four three-pointers. He scored 10 points in 16 minutes but also committed four fouls.

The lowest of lows came on his final series. Alabama overcame a 14-point deficit to tie the matchup 68-68 in the second half. They then fell behind again as the game winded down.

Trailing by seven in the final minute, Aden Holloway had a chance to make it a four-point game. He heaved up a three-pointer that missed everything before being corralled by the Tigers.

He then turned the ball over on the next possession, though the game was out of reach. After the loss, he was greeted by his former teammates. Despite the poor finish, he was upbeat in those postgame festivities.

Alabama fell to 21-4 with the loss. Auburn, meanwhile, improved to 23-2. The two rivals will meet again in the final week of the regular season with potential SEC Championship implications on the line.
